A nice cosy pub with very friendly staff and a comfy bed.
You may need to breathe in to get parked as parking is limited!
Recommended for a short stay, but my room was quite small so I probably wouldn't stay more than a night or two. It was very good value, though and would definitely stay again.

Very clean hotel. Parking free, but first come first served. Host was incredibly polite and friendly. Breakfast and the available choices were delicious and the service was excellent.
We had the quadruple room. No aircon (which we didn't expect) and the room looked out onto a busy road. The flow of traffic didn't really stop until gone 2am so take ear plugs. Weather was extremely hot (nothing that the hotel could do about that) but they did provide a tall fan. A really good shower, clean bathroom and provided three towels for each guest.

Stayed for 3 nights. Parking at the rear always available, From 'check in' onwards the staff were pleasant, helpful and professional, including carrying our bags to the first floor room. The double room was quite spacious, with it's own short 'hall' to the bath/shower room and door to the main hotel landing, so you enter into a short hall and not straight into the bedroom, nice touch. The room was clean, nicely set out, comfortable and well equipped. The only downside to the room was creaky floorboards from the room above which we got used to quickly, others might not. We stayed during a heatwave and needed to sleep with windows open making traffic noise very obvious but not much anyone can do about that.
Overall we we enjoyed our stay and everything worked well for us. The owners are just lovely. Nothing was too much trouble and we wish them well as they develop the Cornerhouse.

The location was absolutely perfect, making it incredibly easy to get around and explore the area and town centre. On top of that, having hassle-free onsite parking made our trip so much smoother. Hotel has own car park round the back - free parking. Greeted by owner on arrival - lovely welcoming check in and shown to room and told some useful local info (restaurant currently closed so pointed us to local places - highly recommend The Old Bath Arms a few mins walk away). Even asked what time we wanted breakfast. Room was very hot - but please bear in mind we were on 2nd floor and it followed a red alert heatwave so not owners fault at all. Fan was provided but made little difference.
Very little sleep due to heat - windows open and road/junction outside very busy (Saturday night) so this didn’t help either.
However, room was delightful. Had everything we needed and was spotlessly clean. Lovely decor and well thought out. Breakfast was delicious - we both had full English and it was tasty. All drinks self service and all fresh. Staff always on hand for anything else and even apologised for the hot rooms and noise!
So a delightful clean little place, with lovely, polite and helpful staff. The only 2 negatives were completely out of their hands so I would recommend them 100%.

The room was clean and the shower worked well (although personal preference I wasn't a fan of the shower curtain!). They provided a fan in the room which was needed with the heat.
All the staff were lovely and they even carried our big suitcase up the stairs for us!
Enjoyed are stay and located in a wonderful location.

We stayed in room 9. There were some strong points: the bed was comfy, the location was handy for the town centre, and the included breakfast was a highlight, with friendly service too. The fan and basic toiletries were also nice touches.
But for the price, it didn’t feel like good value. The noise was a real problem, the creaking floorboards from the room above were so loud they kept both me and my wife (who is not a light sleeper) awake until the guest above stopped moving, and then woke us up again in the morning. Clearly the floorboards need fixing in the room above. The room wasn’t the cleanest, the shower knob was broken (I managed to fix it myself).
While there were positives, the first job of a hotel is to provide a decent night's sleep and the noise issues made it hard to justify the cost. A few improvements would go a long way.
