A great hotel/pub!!! Clean, spacious, live music on Friday & Saturday, great selection of beers, very friendly staff. Central location, easy walk into town. Hoping to stay again soon.......if my romance works out lol :) I think I will stay again anyway :) Highly recommended!!!!!! :)

Mattrass should be thrown away. Dirty and collapsed in the middle. Curtain had a few of the hooks/rungs not connected. Toilet brush was dirty Staff area great. Good little pub. Good food

We enjoyed our stay. However out of 4 nights of our stay one night sleep was interupted by noisy guests returning to their room at 1 pm followd by another gentleman swearing, yelling and banging for at least 30 minutes at 2/3pm. there was allso some functions held at the venue where resident guest parking was made difficult by the sheer number of cars parking for the functiobns. May I all state that the Expedia website details for this venue differs from the venues website. We had a descrepancy on arrival with our room however the Manager/Landlord sorted out the descrepancy and was very helpful. Praise to this person must be given along with the morning breakfast staff. Service was top notch as was the hot food..Altthough the rooms were clean they lacked comfortable seating and decor for the walls would make it feel more homely. I would recommend this venue if it just added some homely features to the bedrooms and paid a bit more attention to the fiitingsand fixtures in the bathrooms

Lovely hotel/pub, very friendly staff and food was delicious. The boutique bedrooms were a bit dated with the black painted headboard and footboard which i constantly banged my knee on when walking around the bed as it stuck out so much and the mattress was a little soft for my liking, felt like I was rolling into the middle.

Nice clean place. Stuff very friendly lovely breakfast just stayed one night but would recommend.

Friendly comfottable old pub .Large rooms.Good breakfast.Parking and bus stop across the road.Frequent buses to newcastle chester le street and durham.

All en-suite rims are different. Heavy wooden bed, headboard and furniture. Small en-suite but fully functional and lovely shower. Will definitely stay again.

Lovely food. Nice place. Mattress on our beds in the Nelson Room was not very comfortable. Sinks in the middle.

Stayed on a Saturday evening. After travelling and a long day I was looking forward to a rest. The room was clean but no remote for the tv and the toilet seat was broken. I spoke to the staff and nothing materialised to sort either. Also there was entertainment which I wasn’t aware of so it was very noisy, especially as I was directly above them. I wouldn’t have stayed if I had been informed of this. Luckily it did finish at 10.00p.m. On the good side the evening meal I purchased and the breakfast which was included were very nice.
