Nice stay, very nice staff, great breakfast just what we wanted

I enjoyed another stay at the Old Red Lion. I was allocated a lovely room with a good bathroom. I appreciated the kind welcome from the staff especially as it was quite late in the evening when I arrived. I informed the staff in advance of my estimated time of arrival and they were reassuring that my arrival time was fine for them. Enjoyed a pint of beer at the bar about 9.30pm before going to bed. The breakfast provided in the room was great as I had to leave quite early in the morning to attend a meeting in Haverhill. Looking forward to my next stay at the Old Red Lion Inn. Rooms are spacious, food is great, had a good nights sleep but showers are lacking

Staff were amazing and food was brilliant, real old school pub food and great value. Room was spacious and comfortable. Only slight niggle is that shower was an electric one and whilst hot enough it was not very powerful. Anyway, I'm returning so that hasn't put me off

Breakfast very poor. Continental breakfast in room; gluten free croissant inedible as it needed to be cooked first and no facilities for that. Evening meal poor and definitely not “home cooked” as advertised.

Functional room , clean and tidy. Bit of road noise the only neg. Pub has good food and drink

Plenty of onsite parking. Went to check in at the bar lovely warm welcome and we were taken to our room. When we checked in which about 20:55PM we asked what time the restaurant stops serving unfortunately it had already closed. We started unpacking and there was a knock at the door. One of team came to see if we would like soup, sandwiches or fish n chips as they would hate to know we were hungry. That was amazing as we stay away a lot each year and never had such good service. The food was plentiful and delicious. Breakfast was too again great service the team are very courteous, helpful and can’t do enough for you. My only drawback was the bed was uncomfortable so I didn’t get a good sleep. Other thank that a lovely place to stay and dine.

Lovely and well done out with all you need, great communication from the host. Easy to find, parking right outside the door. Well equipped rooms and friendly staff in the pub with nice food. Breakfast was a Harvest Festival in a paper bag - a nice croissant, butter, apple, cereal bar and an orange juice. Will definitely use again.

The staff at this pub with accommodation were possibly the most friendly that I've ever come across. The menu was very good and the food tasty and possibly the hottest thus freshest I've ever had. The restaurant had this working method which I usually don't like which is that no one person is responsible for you but in this case it worked seamlessly. The room was large, clean and well appointed although I have concerns about soundproofing due to the construction method but when I was there the occupation was low so I had no issues with that, just take earplugs just in case as I always do. Good shower, good continental breakfast in a bag. If there was one thing that I would change-and this isn't a deal breaker as the mattress was comfortable- is upgrade the mattress. This was by no means a fault in fact I'm happy to say that my stay was faultess and I would thoroughly recommend The Old Red Lion.

We've stayed at the Old Red Lion before when attending family gatherings in Withersfield and this time it was just as good as before.

Great food, ales and room

Staff very friendly & helpful

Stayed here for a business trip and dined here both nights. The meals and draft beers are higher recommended. The room itself was very basic, it felt like a portable cabin rather than room. Mid week a hot breakfast is not offered so we went to McDonald's instead. I am sensitive to sound and found the noise from the adjacent A road a bit disturbing. Keeping the windows closed blocked the noise out suffuciently.

Lovely stay due to a work conference

Everything was great, food, location, staff, service, breakfast, room. The only thing I can suggest is the bed and mattress needs updating very noisy (only have to sit on it) and mattress dips into the middle.
