Having used other Mimaru apartment hotels across Japan, I would continue saying that the level of service is excellent all around.
We stayed in the Asakusa one the year before, but on this occasion we wanted to stay a little away from the hustle and bustle. The hotel is about 5-7 minutes walk away from the Ueno train/metro station via the Iriya gate tunnel and entrance.
The hotel doesn't have the walk out into the middle of the attractions feel, but if you want somewhere a bit quieter, and within reach of excellent transport links to other parts of Tokyo, this is a great location to stay in. You have Shinkansen, Yamanote JR line and Metro.
In the immediate area, there are not so many shops, being underneath a highway, but both 7Eleven and FamilyMart are just short walk away, and 5-7 minutes away are a selection of fast food, izakayas and independent eateries.
We had an unfortunate event which meant we missed our first night and the staff went out of their way to contact Expedia and claim one night of the accommodating back for us. Very impressed and grateful for the help there.
On a day to day basis, the staff were extremely helpful from providing amenities, suggestions of nearby eateries and things to do.
Top tip regarding laundry - there is a panda themed (the symbol of Ueno) laundromat within 1 minute walk of the hotel. Given the 3 machines in the hotel are in demand, the external laundromat is a lifesaver and I think has a better combined washer/dryer machine.

マンションをホテル（コンドミニアム）に転用しているという感じでしょうか。
風呂、トイレ、洗面と台所（冷蔵庫）はまさにマンションのそれ。
ワンフロア５部屋程度で、外廊下から玄関を開けて部屋に入ると、玄関三和土もなく、そのまま部屋全面リノリウム（？）貼りの床。掃除はしやすいのだと思います。
ベッド4つに大きめのダイニングセットと大きめのクローゼットがあるので余裕はある。

房間空間很棒，我們3大2小，29吋大行李箱3個，小行李箱1個，行李全部打開，都還有空間可以行走。房間原則上每天都會來整理，倒垃圾、更換毛巾，每二天更換床單，冰箱也很大，冷凍空間很足夠。唯一美中不足的地方就是距離車站有一點距離，若行李過重過大或有老人小孩建議可以坐計程車過去飯店，費用大概2000日幣以內。

Nos gustó mucho y sin duda regresaríamos, está a corta distancia de estaciones de metro pero sobre todo de UENO station a donde llega el Skyliner del Aeropuerto y de donde salen Trenes que van a localidades foraneas cercanas, cerca de muchos puntos de interés en Tokio, la cocineta equipada facilita mucho desayunos y cenas sobre todo si viajas con niños, muy cerca Seven eleven, family mart y muchas opciones de locales de comida en las estaciones de metro. La habitación limpia y con buenos espacios para el estandar de Tokio. Excelente opción para familias. El personal es muy amable y te ayudan con todo lo necesario para el envío de tu equipaje a tu siguente destino en Japón. El uso de las lavadoras y secadoras es una gran alternativa también.

It was a very nice room, loved the bunk beds! I also really enjoyed the shower room, and I definitely recommend this hotel for families on vacation. The only downside was that the toilet room smells terrible- turn on the deodorizer to help! But other than that, I think this is a great hotel and I hope you will enjoy it too!

Pokémon room was so great! The staff are wonderful and helpful. I don’t love Ueno as an area compared to other areas in Tokyo (big freeway, feel like there’s fewer cool restaurants) but it’s very handy for the airport train

The staff was multilingual and very friendly and helpful. Rooms were clean and maintained very well. I liked the available laundry facility and the accessibility to Ueno station, Ueno Park, and walking distance to Asakusa and Sensoji Temple.

Pretty good. Small room. Friendly staff. They told us about the baggage transfer service they were partnered with, but failed to provide full details, such as needing to have the order completed the day prior… so we planned to used it and then had to pivot last minute when it was clear that it wouldn’t work out.

Loved the size of the room and it was walkable to Ueno park and reasonably close to the train station, in particular the one with the express train back to Narita Airport. Beds were comfortable and it was really nice to have the little sitting area w/table and chairs. Bunk beds were great for the kids too. On quite a busy street and right above a train station so even though we were on the 11th floor with a great view, we could still hear faint sounds of train bells etc. Would stay at Mimaru again but may consider a different location.

Very clean, staffs were super helpful. Sawa went through the trouble to help us research on a capybara cafe. Aki and Harris helped us with a local restaurant reservation. Those special efforts have not gone unnoticed, and are very much appreciated.
Location is on the quiet side of Ueno Station. Unfortunately, the more popular restaurants are all on the other side of the station, but otherwise the quietness and the local vibe are still very much enjoyable.
