We were a family of four and stayed for one night at Seikoro — and everything about our experience, from the warm welcome to the heartfelt farewell, was truly exceptional. We had chosen to include breakfast, and it was absolutely delightful. The in-house public onsen bath added a special touch of relaxation to our stay. It’s an experience we’ll never forget. A heartfelt thank you to the staff who made us feel so welcomed and cared for. We would recommend Seikoro to family and friends visiting Kyoto.

It was a great break from the city hussle and bustle. They were very atttentive and detailed. I requested for a chocolate cake after dinner for our anniversary and they delivered! We had dinner and breakfast both is aunthentic japanese cuisine. Recommend that you use the taxi to get there and visit senjusendo!

I was quite disappointed with my stay at this Ryokan. Contrary to what I was led to believe, the multi-course kaiseki dinner was not included in the booking. In fact, no one ever asked if I wanted to include it. Had I known, I absolutely would have added it, as the kaiseki dinner is often considered the highlight of the Ryokan experience—especially since I paid nearly $1,400 USD for the stay.
While all the staff were extremely kind and courteous, the overall experience didn’t justify the price. Aside from the traditional Japanese breakfast and the old-style public bath, there wasn’t much to set this apart from other hotels I’ve stayed in—many of which offered similar amenities, including Japanese robes (yukata), at a much more reasonable price.

I loved our stay at the ryokan. The staff go above and beyond to make sure you enjoy yourself, and the hospitality we experienced really made the trip. From serving our dinner to setting up our beds for the night, they were friendly, respectful, and really made sure we were relaxing and enjoying ourselves.
Our room was quite large and included our own bath and sitting area. We had a view of the back garden. It was clean and comfortable. We chose to have the kaiseki dinner (additional cost), which they served in our room. The Kaiseki dinner we got was delicious and I loved how they explained each course to us.
There is a public bath in the ryokan, which we took advantage of a few times. I only encountered two people the whole time we were there, and it felt like it was my own private bathhouse.
All in all was a wonderful experience and would love to stay here again.

It was an amazing experience. Wife and I loved the culture and learned a lot. I would have loved to put 5 stars but… there was black mold all over our shower room. The black mold was in the wood on the ceiling, walls, near the tub, etc. Which made it stink of mildew and is actually a safety hazard. It’s in serious need of replacing all the wood because you cant just scrub it out; when black mold is in wood, it’s EVERYWHERE.
Otherwise, the staff was VERY lovely and welcoming, the food was amazing, and the view and aesthetics were everything you could ask for to feel like you’re living in a traditional Japanese setting. Would definitely come back one day, hopefully they have the mold issue fixed.
