All The Best Le Metrotel, Au Revior!
Le Metrotel had been my family and I default selection when it comes to stay in Ipoh, however these few years, the quality had been deteriorating.
This would be the last time my family and I stay with Le Metrotel.
We had booked rooms for more than 10 persons. Despite the usual warmth greetings and friendly smiles from the receptionist, the room’s toilets were hideous and gruesome lack of upkeeping and maintenance. The room floor was dusty and the toilets were smelly.
As my group of entourage checked out the rooms at separate time; we decided to collect the deposit at the last day instead. However, the receptionist had to refer us to a lady manager. The lady manager who is not that diplomatic/helpful, worst, the hotel guests were treated with her rude, belittling and taunted remarks. On top of that, the lady manager started to scold the receptionist right in front of us. The rooms’ deposit could not be retrieved in the end, as the accounting system had been closed on daily basis, as she claimed and entirely would be the Information Technology world fault. It’s not the deposit that matters, it’s about the attitude and way a hotel treats a guest and also the staff. We don’t want to dwell in this matter, fearing that the staff will be victimize later on by the lady manager (which we had seen and witnessed the staff being mistreated by the lady manager during our stay there).
The lady manager who lack of hospitality eventually had charged the group for a less than 10 minutes late check out. Late checks out with charges is common, but, late checkout charges for a less than 10 minutes, this is the first time with Le Metrotel Ipoh. Again, this lady manager’s reasoning, all is automated and cannot be changed because it’s Information Technology. For the world record.
When presented with the final receipt, the computer printed invoice didn’t show the late check out charges. We asked the lady manager on this and she lost her temper, going berserk and utterly emotional and ballasted the group with her rude remarks.
This is not the sort of hospitality a hotel should render to the guest in any way. I guess it should be another issue with the Information Technology and System.
And this is not the way a manager should be treating her staff, a senior citizen staff.
Checking out from a hotel, couldn’t be more difficult than checking out from Le Metrotel; first time being charged for a late checkout not more than 10 minutes, and first time being scolded and mocked by a hotel manager not only once but many times. Truly a memorable experience, memorable bad experience.
Penning till now, my family and I always choose to stay with Le Metrotel and recommend this hotel to our families and friends due to its friendly receptionist and also its strategic location. However, this lady manager had changed our mind. This would be the last stay at the Le Metrotel Ipoh, time for us to venture to new location.
Notes to fellow travelers:
1. Please make sure you reimburse your deposit, everything must be in order, and they have a rigid IT system and a very rude lady manager handling the system. Rigid system + bad manager = bad combination.
2. Please make sure check out before the time, else, you’ll be slap with a late checkout charges.
Finally, sincerely, all the best to Le Metrotel, you seriously need it.
