Great atmosphere, good food
We arrived late and were picked up by very friendly Henry (restaurant staff) from the main road. Transport from and to the tea garden can be difficult as there is no public option. The ladies at the reception were friendly but as usual a bit short. Our cottage was nice, relatively clean and spacious. I did not like the plastic leather couch though. The tea and coffee/tea in the restaurant was good, breakfast was very good but without lots of choice. The guided tour was simple but great. Rubbing/hiking in the tea plantation is quite nice, we enjoyed our overnight stay and went on to Poring Hot Springs afterwards.

Great Beautiful Quaint Resort
Great Beautiful Quaint Resort ” Cottage is true to its description with the majestic Mt Kinabalu as the backdrop. A little off the grid from Kundasang but worth the ride. The views are spectacular. Pros: Beautiful sunrise and sunset weather dependent. Do get up early to watch the . sunrise at the tea farm👍. Breakfast is simple with the package. Enjoying the morning view is great just at the patio of the cottage. Staff extremely friendly especially Hamid and Melinden. Even though we are not with their tour group they were extremely kind and generous to impart tips and information on other things to do in the surroundings areas. Do not rush for best effects. We had two days stay. Calming Cons: Gravel roads. Drive slowly. Patience required. Road to Ranau is laden with heavy vehicles. Can be a long arduous journey but really worth the efforts.

Not my cup of tea
Difficult to know where to start with this little gem. Pros: - Henry, the Manager, was very helpful - the hillside setting is nice but isolated - historically interesting - we only stayed here for two nights Cons: - unbelievably, the tea was over brewed and bitter. - nothing else around but tea, tea and more tea - designed for packages tours with their own transport (hoards of them arrive every day) - told we had to walk from the main road with our heavy luggage. This wasn’t true. - accommodation staff were rude and unhelpful. They are poorly trained and unable to use initiative. - longhouse very basic and not soundproof at all. Didn’t make sense to put a large family group with young kids next to us when they had 22 other rooms. Overpriced. - cottage was better but still overpriced. - food in the restaurant was very expensive but quite tasty. - tea tour was average and pretty underwhelming, although our guide was friendly.

So much better than you think a tea tour could be
We went here a couple of years ago, we loved it! I confess I was sceptical, having just spent a week at a fabulous beach resort on an equally fabulous island we had a drive across the centre of Borneo to get to then spend a week in the rain forest. To break the journey up we planned a one night stop at the tea plantation. It was not the bit of the holiday I was most looking forward to!!! When we arrived we were shown into a cottage, basic, but clean and totally suitable for a one night stop. There is a small bar you can sit at and have a beer and the views are just awesome. The following morning was a tour of the factory which was fascinating, honestly, who knew tea production could be an interesting subject, but it really was. The guy who gave the tour was funny and informative and the tea, well, if you like tea (and you really should if you visit a tea plantation) then there is none finer. I have a tiny bit left now and I really, really want to get some more. Not so easy from the UK! The food is OK, it is honest and tasty, people who want something fancy should either grow up or go somewhere else. The monument to the soldiers is a bit heartbreaking, but please do go and see it, they deserve our respect and thoughts. All in all I would recommend a stop here to anyone, don't expect fancy rather enjoy what you do get, I went thinking it would be dull and left having truly enjoyed the experience.
