We changed to this property not long before we were due to go on our trip due to terrible reviews from the hotel we’d already booked.
So so so glad we did this! The hotel was beautiful (very steppy though so not great if your mobility isn’t good) although there is a lift inside but has many steps up to the building.
The staff were very friendly & helpful.
The rooms were very clean and loved the decor. The beds and pillows were the comfiest I’ve ever slept on I think!

I won’t lie, the room was VERY small, but enough for a single person and the bed was very comfortable. The location could not have been better, with very short walking access to Vondelpark and a stone’s throw from the Rijksmuseum. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and I appreciated the time they took to give me some local recommendations.

Only stayed here for one night by myself whilst exploring the city. I was given room 404 and I adored it! Not only it was decorated in a very fun way, but the view was gorgeous. I spent hours just reading and looking out the window in the late evening. I'd love to go back again some day.

Stanza minuscola e non pulita. Condizonatore molto rumoroso anche da spento. Colazione passabile, ma dormire è dato molto difficile anche perché la finestra, a cui era addossato il letto, non aveva gli scuri.

Love the quirkiness of the interiors, room was quite small, we were in the attic room, ok for our 3 night stay any longer and it would have felt quite cramped as there’s no seating area, only the bed. Breakfast was adequate with enough options, continental breakfast. Location great, nice quiet residential road but close to all the museums, transport and plenty of restaurants within an easy 8 min walk.

As a frequent traveler to Amsterdam, I can confidently say I’ll never stay at a Max Brown hotel again. While the beds were comfortable and the views nice, the negatives far outweighed the positives. Check-in was a nightmare — rude and unhelpful staff, and no notice of construction that woke us at 7 AM with drilling and hammering. The buildings have extremely steep stairs, making them impossible for anyone with bags or mobility issues. Locations are less convenient than advertised, and our room reeked of cigarette smoke because staff members were smoking at the entrance. Rooms also had stale air and little charm.
Max Brown hotels could be lovely, but the lack of service, transparency, and comfort makes them a hard no for me.

Hotellet är renoverat i charmig stil med många roliga små detaljer och personalen är trevlig. De noterar i sin egen beskrivning att hotellets entré ligger 11 trappsteg upp vilket är bra men gäster bör även notera att de trappstegen är väldigt branta och det samma om inte värre gäller ner till frukostmatsalen dit hissen inte går. På rummet finns bordsfläktar och det går att öppna fönstret. Hotellet ligger mycket nära flertalet hotel och spårvagnshållplatser som gör det smidigt att ta sig runt. Frukostbuffén har det mesta man söker och är fräsch.

L’hôtel est globalement agréable, dans un style retro, et idéalement situé pour un séjour de découverte de la ville. Le personnel est convivial.
En revanche, ma chambre (double standard) était assez petite et d’équipement sommaire, très peu de prises électriques (on doit choisir entre la lampe ou le ventilateur ou la recharge du téléphone LOL) et espace bureau peu adapté si on doit travailler . La salle de bain était propre mais très exiguë, faut avoir la taille mannequin.
Bouilloire dans la chambre mais pas de café :-)
Petit déjeuner varié et agréable mais moins fourni que beaucoup d’établissements de la même gamme de prix.
Globalement un endroit à recommander mais quelques points à améliorer ou alors il faut taper da s les chambres supérieures.

Location is amazing, 2 minute walk to the tram, 7 minute walk to Leidseplein. A very quiet street and staff were amazing, always so helpful. I was travelling with my 2 daughters 20 and 18, we always felt safe. Would definitely return to this hotel. Highly recommend.
