The owner John was very personable and knowledgeable and gave advice about more travel. Feeding the alpacas and sheep was a unique experience. The sunset was beautiful and peaceful. Did not book breakfast but owner was accommodating and flexible and added it. Good continental breakfast, good choices. Liked the heated towel rung in bathroom.

My stay at Hunters Moon was absolutely wonderful. John, the owner, is incredibly friendly and accommodating—he even allowed me extra time to finish work without any additional cost. The breakfast was delightful, the room spacious, and the views were simply amazing. Service was exceptional from start to finish. My mother and I thoroughly enjoyed our two nights here during our trip to New Zealand. Highly recommended to anyone visiting Dunedin!

Stayed one night and had a great experience! Due to delays in our travel schedule we had to check-in late and were unable to contact the property regarding this. We arrived with an envelope addressed to myself with all the information needed! The room was large, very clean and the hospitality was amazing! The next morning we had the opportunity to speak with the owner and help feed their sheep and alpacas! I would strongly recommend staying at Hunters Moon and if I ever return I will stay here again

We had room four, which is very spacious. The parking is a tad tight, but manageable.
John, who owns the place, is absolutely delightful! Very kind and open. And my personal highlight was joining him in the morning to handfeed the sheep and alpacas.

We had a really lovely stay over 4 nights. John made us feel as if we were at home and with a friend. Although the room we had was not one of the ensuite rooms, we had a dedicated bathroom to ourselves, and we knew it would be like that when we chose the room and the rate. There was also a guest kitchen which was well equipped.

Located only 20-30 minutes drive from Dundedin city centre, but in countryside setting, tucked out of the way. Quiet.
Clean and comfortable room with a modern clean en suite shower room.
Very comfortable bed.
Small fridge with freezer compartment and a microwave, in a cupboard.Kettle. Access to a guest kitchen - but we
took up the continental breakfast option (cereal, juices, toast, butter, etc).
Small table and a couple of chairs outside - we used one to supplement the chair in the room when it rained.
Very nice host - who was available during the breakfast service and for the daily feeding of the alpacas, sheep and chicken.
Good WiFi.
We enjoyed a very comfortable stay and it made a good base to explore the Dunedin area.

Absolutely lovely stay. John was a fantastic host and the room was lovely. So very clean and easy enough to unload our luggage and get comfy. John was kind and welcoming and in the morning had a nice simple spread for breakfast and then we got to feed the alpacas and sheep which was unique! Definitely recommend a stay here as the property was beautiful just watch your drive in!
