What a great hotel in the heart of it all. The best part was it’s location and the fabulous young man who checked us in, Patrick. A true gem who gave us great advice on things to do and was extremely welcoming.

Firstly the good points -without exception the hotel’s team were very customer focussed and welcoming. Everyone smiles and service was excellent.
It is very central in Glasgow - 10 mins max walk from Glasgow Central and beside Queen Street stn.
Now for the minuses - there is no lounge nor bar that residents can go to to relax unless you’ve got an exec or club room, where there is access to an exec lounge that closes at 22:30 and has restricted access in the evening (can book either an early or late slot).
There are no lounge facilities for those in std rooms.
We had an exec room booked - we were given 502 - it was so dowdy, torn wallpaper, noisy leaking tap (we do wonder if it was exec) - we asked to be moved and were given 409 which we think was club - it was in a different league to 502 but still very tired, torn wallpaper around the air con control, old furniture, thin towels and pillows - not the exec experience we’ve had elsewhere.

We had a great stay at the Carlton George. The staff couldn’t have been nicer. They were polite, friendly, cheerful and helpful. The room was spacious with a very comfy bed and lots of little extras. We had a Club Room so the Executive Lounge was available to use. It was a great space, with refreshments provided. We ate in the Windows Restaurant and had a lovely meal at a good price. We would definitely stay again.

Although we liked the lounge - the canapés (cheese & biscuits) were never replenished. Breakfast continental offering wasn’t topped up regularly and no bread to go with the meats and cheese. It was also expensive to add breakfast to our booking.
Hotel changed our room as we were unhappy with our first room but they did charge us to do this.
