The Skye Inn

Very nice hotel, but limited restaurant and bar hours. Nice pub in town within walking distance.

I booked the Skye Inn for convenience of location being in Portree and that it looked like one of the nicer spots in town. I was absolutely wrong. I booked a standard double room for $327 total, which was already overpriced, but I thought it'll be good in person and it included breakfast. When I got to the room they gave me - I turned around and went back to the front desk to change rooms, BUT they said they were sold out. I addressed my complaints - the first was that the only window in the room faced a cement wall and there was zero view or light. For that rate, I except light and at the very least, a tree or something pleasant outside the window. As I started to settle in, I noticed numerous other things wrong. Broken, non functioning lights in the bathroom and next to the bed. And the place was very run down including scrapes and nicks on doors and furniture. The one saving grace was a good breakfast. For the price, this stay was beyond disappointing.

Lovely stay, very clean warm room, lovely food, nice beer and good selection of whiskeys. Staff very accomodating and friendly. Highly recommended

While the rooms were on the smaller side they were cozy, and the staff were very friendly.

Accueil et petit déjeuner sont tres bien, le personnel est authentiques. Le seul bemol c'est la moquette. Mis à part cela c’est tres bien.

Had a reasonable good stay at the hotel, the staff was really kind and helpful and the food was great. The price however is way too high for the state that this hotel is in. The furniture is old and damaged, the TV is small and the smart functions don't work properly. And last but definitely not least was the noise, we could hear every guest coming past our room, as our room was close to the dining area/bar. It woke us up late at night and early in the morning.

Restaurant was unexpectedly closed second night due to staff shortage…was told someone sick and chef on vacation. Really? Chef on vacation in August? Was told in a condescending manner…” darlin’ this is an island…”refused my request for a discount since the restaurant was closed. Took trying three restaurants to find one who took us in without a reservation.

This was a nice quaint Inn off the beaten path in Portree. One note- although free parking, many potholes in the parking lot. Bed was comfortable but only double beds and room and bathroom was small. Dining hall and living room combined was nice. We had breakfast which was yummy, porridge with berries was yummy and eggs and bacon were delicious excellent. Nothing fancy though so plan for coffee and tea- no cappuccino or latte. We loved the teas in our room, the highland cow pillows and all the old fashion horse pictures! Would recommend a stay but maybe bring early plugs bc walls are thin and get 2 rooms!

Roads were terrible leading to the Inn!!

Very overpriced, and even at half the cost it wouldn’t be worth it. We paid nearly $400 USD for one night - far more than the Marriott we stayed at the night before - yet the quality was nowhere close. The property feels outdated, the air is stuffy, and the walls are so thin you can hear conversations (and even breathing) from the next room. The shower was tiny, the staff seemed to avoid eye contact rather than offer service, and the food was average at best. No air conditioning either. Overall, it feels like the hotel mainly caters to large bus groups. Definitely would not stay here again.
