Tongadale Hotel

Although the location was wonderful the room was very outdated and extremely small. steep stairs. overpriced for the quality of the stay.

Clean room, good food

Nice warm, clean room, tasty breakfast, and a great bar downstairs with live music!

Only stay here if it’s your last option as it was for us.

It wasn't clear where we were to check in. No one stepped from behind the bar to help us initially. A sign about checkin would have been helpful.

La chambre était petite et étroite, mais propre. Le vent soufflait par les fenêtres fermées, donc le sillement était désagréable. Aussi, l'insonorisation n'était pas bonne. On entendait tout dans le corridor et au dessus de nous. Il y a eu de vacarme toute la nuit. C'était ordinaire, surtout pour le prix.

Had dinner at the restaurant, very good and the staff were very busy but did a great job talking care of everyone. Included full Scottish breakfast the next morning, the best.

Habitación limpia y tamaño justo. Lo bueno es que está en el centro. Se paga mucho para lo que es. Es más recomendable los B&B que hay a los alrededores, mismos servicios y al menos 35% más baratos.

Tipica locanda scozzese con pub sotto e camere sopra. Atmosfera carina, personale gentile e divertente, gestore alla mano. Le camere e il bagno sono molto piccole e nei corridoi aleggia un odore di cibo cucinato e stantìo. Non brilla per pulizia, ma si può respirare aria autentica del luogo se si beve qualcosa nella chiassosa e divertente locanda.

We loved staying here! The staff were friendly and helpful. Loved the live music in the evening.

Staff was horrible,they NEVER followed through and did what they said they were going to do. The restaurant staff was great,though.

Nettes Hotel mit Restaurant und Pub in Haus. Sehr zentrale Lage, parken auf öffentlichen gebührenpflichtigen Parkplatz ein paar Häuser weiter, zur Hochsaison muss man aber Glück für einen freien Parkplatz haben.

Convenient and affordable.

The location of the Tongadale Hotel is decent, right in the centre of Portree. That said, Portree itself is incredibly crowded, which probably explains the high prices – but still, the value just isn’t there. The hotel really feels more like a hostel with a hefty price tag. It’s situated above a pub, which tells you a lot about the atmosphere. The food was passable but significantly overpriced for the quality. The room felt more like student accommodation than a proper hotel – basic, uncomfortable and not cleaned daily, which was disappointing. Overall, it just didn’t meet expectations for the price. On a positive note, the service was very good. Special thanks to Caitlin in the restaurant, who was friendly and shared great local tips – she was the highlight of our stay. Still, I wouldn’t stay there again.
