Great value for your money but a bit hard to get to / walk around from given the huge hill that it’s on, especially with luggage. So plan ahead for that part but otherwise we really enjoyed!

if u plan to walk from zurich hb, please expect the walk consist of 60% hilly going to the hotel from zurich hb
room size is ok for an expensive city like zurich
but tram station just in front of the hotel
a bit secluded though it still feels safe
check in & room key using your phone so ensure that your phone is always charged coz mine was running out of battery, and the customer service on the phone are not friendly (if u dont mind deal with cold non friendly, with harsh way talking to you after your long day, then ok)

The hotel room itself was quite good an sufficient. I am putting an extremely low score for service for a few reasons.
1. There was not enough communication before check-in on the self check-in procedure
2. The self check-in procedure was not smooth. Issues faced were:
a. Was not able to proceed with payment using Firefox mobile browser. Needed to switch to Chrome.
b. The lockers were not released, thus blocking me from selecting/booking a locker. I needed to call the remote receptionist and explain to them to release all previous bookings.
There was another hotel guest before us that had similar check-in problems. Actually everytime we came down to the lobby, there was someone that seemed to be struggling with the self check-in system. Please test and fix your system.

Is a short walk from train station but be prepared that it is up a hill (if going to Zurich again I’d possibly go to the Fred hotel right by the station due to this). Room itself was lovely but note if you want housekeeping there is an extra charge. Check in etc is all digital and felt cool to use an app to open doors etc.

My stay at Fred Hotel was good , everything went smoothly and I had no issues. I didn’t have much direct contact with the staff, but everything was well organized and comfortable, so there was no need. Overall, a pleasant and hassle-free experience.

I recently stayed at Fred Hotel in Zurich, and while the room was a decent size and the location convenient, the negatives far outweighed the positives.
The self check-in, advertised as simple, was frustrating as the lockers never worked. On arrival, the bathroom trash can was already full, and since no staff were available, it stayed that way. Housekeeping was not included unless paid for separately, which was never mentioned during booking. Cleanliness was poor overall: the bath mat had a visible footprint, the bathroom ventilator couldn’t be turned off, the sink drained slowly, and the room smelled unpleasantly like a hospital. The pillows were paper-thin, and the towels and bath towels were old, thin, and fraying.
Noise was another major problem. Trams ran right outside the window until 1 a.m., and with a poorly sealed balcony door, soundproofing was virtually nonexistent. On top of this, there was no phone in the room, meaning I had to physically go to the front desk for any assistance.
Most concerning of all, my personal data appears to have been compromised. I received WhatsApp phishing messages that included details of my stay — something that has never happened in over ten years of using Expedia. When I raised this, the hotel’s only response was to advise me not to interact with the scammer, without apology or acknowledgment.
Overall, despite its size and location, Fred Hotel failed in cleanliness, comfort, service, and security. I cannot recommend it.

Convenient and close to everything. The room itself had clean sheets and linens but the carpet was filthy.
! Could not walk around without shoes or slippers. Recomend trashing the carpet and really cleaning the floors.

Very clean and looked nice. The bathroom was small but had a good layout and a great shower. The bed was very hard and not comfortable at all. For that reason we would not stay here again.
