Both the evening meal and breakfast were only just warm which was disappointing. Room 1 was a good size but would have preferred a shower enclosure rather than a shower over the bath. Overall our stay served its purpose as an overnight stay en route to our destination, it was adequate but no more.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Outstanding Stay at The Owl Hotel I recently had the pleasure of staying at The Owl Hotel, and I can honestly say it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. The staff were absolutely fantastic—friendly, welcoming, and always happy to help with anything we needed. Nothing was too much trouble, and they really made us feel at home throughout our stay. The food was excellent, with a great selection and top-quality dishes that were clearly prepared with care. Every meal was thoroughly enjoyable and well presented. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and well maintained, providing the perfect place to relax after a long day. It’s clear the team take pride in keeping everything to a high standard. Overall, a brilliant stay with a warm, friendly atmosphere. I wouldn’t hesitate to return and would highly recommend The Owl Hotel to anyone looking for great service, great food, and a comfortable stay.

The heating was not working when we arrived but this was not mentioned when we checked in. It was only at about 6 o'clock when the heating was still off that we asked what was happening. They did install an electric heater which made the room warm enough later on in the evening when we returned.

Really nice stay for the second time. Nice clean room and the breakfast was lovely.

Room 22 had quite a noise from the central heating in the cupboard next to room 2

The room was supposed to be a double but it would have been small even with a single bed instead. There wasn't any room to put anything at all, and it was ready for a good refurbish. We luckily managed to get our money refunded as the young lady checking us in understood and agreed with us what we had said. Luckily we managed to find somewhere else at short notice with it being out of season.

Bed room well worn out, dirty toilet, constant smell of drains in the room. Had to spray air freshener. Access panel for other rooms shower all taped on. Could hear everything going on the the next door rooms. Room not cleaned in 3 days and towels not replaced every day. Using the environment excuse to make more money. Other than that all fine. The Wishing well hotel in Selby may be dated but

Nice pub stay

Very good value with comfortable beds, clean room and good amenities for the price. Good to have the option of breakfast in the pub without having to book.

Great that the family room was actually a separate bedroom....best ever for that reason! Needs serious maintenance though and a good refurb, but for the price was pretty good. Pub drinks prices are VERY overpriced.

Room was clean staff were excellent and could not have been better always friendly and willing to help. Food was excellent with good variety. Drinks on offer were varied and good sekection was on offer

Adequate standard - good value

Quick and efficient check in. Friendly staff. Room was in the annexe building across the car park from the pub. Room was fine. Just enough room to walk around the bed. Bathroom had a bath, which was a bonus. Optional breakfast was good with tasty food and plenty of options. Location was about 20 miles from York, but on our route, so meant we avoided any city traffic on the Friday evening. The room was very quiet despite being on a main road. Easy access to York on the Saturday in about half an hour, so would recommend as a cheaper option to city centre hotels.
