The Crane Resort

The rooms were very nice and clean, a lot more modern than the pictures. The hotel is far from everything on the island and taxi’s were not cheap. We had a party of six and spent about $140 daily round trip to go to Bridgetown. The restaurants on the resort were also overpriced and not the best in flavor. I wish there was more restaurants closer outside the resort. Overall the staff was very accommodating and served with that Bajan flare.

Beautiful grounds

The Crane is a lovely hotel with a long history. The hotel staff are friendly and very accommodating. The hotel has a few nice restaurants nearby but most attractions or city visits require a taxi ride. The concierge can make restaurant reservations and taxi requests for you but look online to book most excursions and if you can book transport with the tour companies. There are a number of good restaurants at the crane - zen and Poesia #3 are in my opinion the best while the village cafe has great coffee, desserts and ice cream. An on/site boutique grocery store allows for small meal prep in your room and is affordable. Lots of entertainers around providing music and laughs and there are also a number of vendors and stores for souvenirs. The pools are great and not crowded and if the seaweed is an issue at the beach (it was for us) the hotel provides easy transportation to another property in town for those wishing to do so. The weather is great down here and I’d head back in a heartbeat!

Service took a very long time: at restaurants, at the pool. Not great service in general. Asked for non-dairy milk with my coffee every morning and sometimes they’d say they don’t have it sometimes they said they did. One morning they said they didn’t have it but the café did and no one offered to go get some from the café. Would ask for things multiple times before receiving. Asked for a shuttle to go to Oistens, were told we were put on the list and then they told us we were never on the list. Just lots of little things that made it certainly not a stellar experience. Beautiful surroundings, loved our room, but very itchy bedding. Just not what I’d expect for the cost.

"A Series of Operational Failures, Compounded by Poor Policy" Regrettably, The Crane has fallen far from its previous reputation. Our week-long stay highlighted systemic issues: 1. Facility Decay: Sound insulation is inadequate, and maintenance is lacking (evidenced by an A/C leak that damaged personal belongings). 2. Ineffective Noise Management: A severe nighttime disturbance from other guests was not resolved by security, demonstrating a failure to uphold a basic peaceful environment. 3. Lack of Empathy and Empowerment: The most telling failure was the front desk's refusal of a modest 30-minute check-out extension after the hotel's inability to guarantee us a night's sleep. This rigid policy, applied after multiple failures on their part, shows a complete disregard for guest restitution.

Bedrooms within the suite were large, clean and comfortable. Balcony views were very lovely and the great weather added to the experience. Bathroom and kitchen was fully equipped with everything needed if we decided to stay in and cook. The property itself was great. Improvement is needed with the guest services phone line. It’s almost impossible to get the front desk or other facility support team from the room. Once the initial operator picks up and transfer the call, there is either no response or dropped calls. Guest literally have to leave the room and visit front desk if needed which is very inconvenient. Also long wait times for follow up. Requested towels and blankets in the morning and did not get a delivery until late afternoon. Was told a privacy sign was on the door so they could not deliver but this was not the case at the time of request. It appears, there is possibly not enough staff to support the guest services due to the multiple properties and large influx of guest especially on the weekends. Most staff were courteous (special thanks to Donna, Erica, Anthony, and Markita in Concierge who were extremely helpful and kind) however, there were instances where more customer service and effective communication training would benefit the staff around the property (I.e. security, spa, and some restaurants). The food options could also improve. The property however is beautiful and has great potential!

The resort was amazing. My fiancé and I got the junior suite room with own pool, the room was beautiful. The resort is nearby a beach and other restaurants, the restaurant called the grove behind the beach had delicious burgers! unfortunately due to the resort being on the east side of Barbados it is well known for having rough waves and not recommended to swim. The beach is still lovely and the resort still has numerous pools though! Also make sure you have extras of stuff and all your necessities because the resort does not have any small convenience store so you have to travel 15-25 mins off resort to find what you need. The staff were friendly and helpful.

The staff was friendly, but did not go above and beyond the call of duty. Also, we were there for a very short time due to flight delays and missing our first night at the property and arriving at 1 AM for our only other night and we had to leave by 12 PM the next day.

Good food at the restaurants. Checkin took over an hour, seems like frustrated untrained staff. Room was clean but very bare bones not great decor. Elevator to our room wasn’t working so we had to lug our stroller up and down for a week. Pool was dirty and not convinced it had a filtration system had a dead frog in the kids pool. Very small beach and access was far from the room with the elevator again not working to get down. So lots of stairs.

No beach access and too far from great restaurants

The transfer from the airport, that was prepaid and reserved months in advance, was an hour and 40 minutes late to pick us up from the airport. Excuse was, ‘we are busy.’ Not acceptable. Service was slow in general - at the restaurants, bars and room service. Nice and quiet resort, but we were disappointed in the all around service.

Gorgeous resort. People and staff were so friendly. The accommodations were nice. Restaurants were easily accessible. Beautiful beaches.

Overall, it was a excellent stay. Only comment would be more choices for food. If you don't book early you can' get a reservation. Also, more options of food for example, sandwiches, wraps, pizza, food like that.

This was our first trip to Barbados. We booked this resort as it came highly recommended. It was beautiful, safe and clean. Staff was polite and helpful. Easy access to Crane Beach. Lots of food choices. A general store to purchase food that we cooked ourselves made it easy and cost effective with our young kids. Our only issue was the cost to travel to different parts of the island. Taxi/Uber were quite expensive so we stayed at the resort most days.
