Barceló Santo Domingo

Unfortunately, my stay did not meet expectations. Check-in felt very cold and transactional. Although I booked through Expedia, there was no warmth or hospitality~ only reminders about financial responsibility related to the minibar. Both my husband and I were also required to have our passports scanned, which was not communicated in advance and added to the impersonal experience. The most serious issue was cleanliness. We encountered roaches in our room, which is unacceptable. Additionally, the bathroom had multiple visibly dirty areas, and several parts of the hotel smelled strongly of old carpet, giving the property an overall dated and unclean feel. Another low point was the service at the casino bar. The bartender we approached appeared visibly irritated, with crossed arms and dismissive body language. She did not greet us or smile, and her tone made it very clear she did not want to be bothered. Questions were answered abruptly, creating an uncomfortable experience. While some areas of the hotel were decent, the cleanliness issues and poor service overshadowed any positives. I would not return, nor would I recommend this property based on my experience.

This hotel was amazing.

The hotel staff are quite friendly and speak both English and Spanish with clarity. My room was clean and spacious. The breakfast buffet offered a wide variety of options and was very reasonably priced. On-site restaurants were convenient and quick with service. The hotel is centrally located and easily accessible from anywhere in the city.

Staff members were awesome. Made my birthday special, by surprising me with a personal cake after massage. Food is excellent and amenities are top notch

The room was in need of some repairs including electric work. The wait staff during dinner at the buffet was lacking in customer service. The air conditioning did not work properly inside the room. The pool and the breakfast however were great.

Loved being upgraded to the VIP areas. Great service, attentive staff and great amenities. Thank you!
