A strange sort of place. It is a beautiful old manor with great history. The room was spacious and welcoming. We stayed there for 4 nights and generally enjoyed it. It’s strange in that it has many many rooms in several wings, but it has no restaurant. It has a bar area with a bar menu that is very sparse and limited. Thank goodness for the Broughton inn, a 10 minute flat walk away. We ate there 2 of the 4 nights and it was amazing. A real country pub with top food and drinks. Fabulous atmosphere and staff. Speaking of which. The staff at the Marriott seemed untrained and totally without any guidance. Is there a manager there? Who knows.An exception to this was a guy named Paul. He was very helpful and seemed to be enjoying the job. Other staff members seemed to be afraid of something and one, had only been there for a few weeks, said they had nightmares most nights 😳 . The housekeeping was mediocre at best and didn’t seem too happy either. It’s a shame really as a good manager encouraging staff and taking an interest could really make a difference. We are currently staying at the Marriott in Durham and experiencing the same issues, with no restaurant and the same menu as Preston Marriott. It sure sounds like it’s a head office issue throughout the whole Marriott chain. Would we stay with Marriott again? Possibly, but only to see if it has changed. If no.

The first room we had, there were sweets under the bed and people's belongings still in the room like toys, ect. We got moved to another room in the night after having a night from hell in Blackpool getting stuck in a multistory car park for 2 hours. The new room was good but when we woke up in the morning, to get a bath after a long stressful day from the day before, the bath plug didn't work so I could relax in the bath, had to settle for a shower. I thought the Marriot was meant to rival the Hilton's hotels but I would much rather stay in the Barton Manor down the road. My trust was broken after the first mishap with the room. It would take a lot for me to stay at the hotel again.

Once again a first class stay. Everything is an absolute joy and the staff are very special.

lady at check-in not welcoming / friendly Reeled off load of information very quickly nothing registered with me at all I asked about leisure centre she just pointed to corridor She was uninterested, made us feel overlooked Later on went to reception asked same lady for tea bags she literally threw/ slide them on the reception counter Definately underling unjust behaviour towards us not acceptable at all. Leisure facility very dirty Food in bar desert served but missing an element of the desert When I asked was told we ran out of that item This should have been mentioned when I ordered so then I could choose to order or not instead of serving desert and hoping it won’t be noticed Didn’t feel relaxed we experienced unjust behaviour, every individual should be treated as an equal and with respect but unfortunately we were not.

The hotel is in a very good location..has a wonderful spa and the staff were lovely.

The establishment presented a tranquil ambiance, complemented by pleasant outdoor seating. The premises maintained a high standard of cleanliness, and the staff exhibited exceptional friendliness and approachability. The culinary offerings and accommodations, including all associated facilities, were also highly satisfactory.

Paid £136 in December for a double room in August this year. In August the same room on hotels.com was £105. I messaged asking if we could have an upgrade as the price was lower on the site for the same room on the same night. I asked for a king size instead of a double, not a refund. I was told that as I had pre paid they wouldn’t have couldn’t upgrade our room. I felt a bit let down that I had paid in advance and paid more for the room. We arrived after a wedding at 2am in the morning, there was no toilet roll . I tried to call reception, but the phone was not working in the room. On checking out I told the receptionist. She was pleasant and said sorry for the inconvenience but no offer of compensation. On the plus side the bed was super comfy .

I loved how clean and tidy the room was the first time I entered it. I wish I stayed longer as I only spent a night.

Beautiful location and lovely staff , I visit quite often and I’m never disappointed!! …. I usually order room service which is always super nice and quick to arrive …. And I will continue to visit

The chlorine levels were extremely high so we were unable to use the pool facilities for long as it was burning our eyes
