Solent Hotel and Spa

Overall our stay was good and as expected as we have stayed here many times before. However as we were staying two nights we expected as normal our room for our second night to be serviced ready for a fresh stay on night two. However disappointingly when on returning from a day out visiting family it clearly had not, we asked reception if this could be done as soon as possible as we needed to get ready to entertain family in hotel restaurant that night they said they would see to it straight away. After an hour it still wasn’t serviced we asked again and was told it would be done straight away. A new policy wasn’t mentioned. It was then shortly after a staff member knocked in the door to tell us that two weeks ago they introduced a new policy that it had to be requested via an app before 10am if your staying more than one night. Apparently there was a card in the room advising of this that we missed as never having had such a policy in a hotel before and crucially it was NOT mentioned or warned about to us at check-in as a new policy introduced only two weeks prior. They tried to rectify it with new towels but housekeeping had all gone home so room could not be serviced. So be aware you have to request this now.! We wondered why would you not have a room serviced and refreshed, as paying same rate for both nights? to have with bins emptied, fresh towels, toilet rolls, tea coffee refreshed, room cleaned etc etc especially as no reduction in room cost for doing it yourself.!

I checked in with Endang and she was super helpful. The room was great & i enjoyed my stay.

Large room and excellent bathroom. Staff cheerful and friendly. The service at breakfast was particularly good and that seems to be unusual now in our experience. We have stayed here before when exploring the area and came this time for an overnight stay before joining a cruise. It is good value and has lots of amenities should guests wish to use them.

For a large hotel the staff were very friendly and efficient.

Large room in a quality hotel. Service was a little slack. Car park barrier would not lift and no one available, with delay of several minutes to exit! Good people, but appeared understaffed.

Comfortable stay. Easy for access through Heathrow.

I usually stay at the Lodge - the breakfast is better at the Hotel, but my room was dated, no plug sockets near the bed and the bathroom has seen better days... The Lodge is simpler and more basic, but is so much more modern - and the WIFI is much better !! The room I had (202) was a suite but due to the above was 'average' at best

Location was ideal for what we needed

Really nice and quaint hotel. Conveniently located near shopping centre, restaurants and motorway. Spa facilities were good. Room sizes are great but slightly dated and could be better maintained. Thought out room facilities and amenities really well! Staff were fantastic - really friendly and helpful!

Very underwhelmed at our stay here. Whilst the pool and spa area were nice, you have to pay additional to use just the pool (£30 for a family of 4 or £15 per person). The hotel as a whole is very dated, and check in took 30 mins as check in system is very very slow. Rooms are very cramped, there were 4 of us in a room and barely any space for a cot. Whilst they have the white company toiletries, the bath is super narrow. The food at the parsons restaurant (more a sports bar) was terrible, burger was burnt. Breakfast however was nice (you can order avocado and poached eggs). Overall giving 2 stars as the value is really bad and I won’t be staying here again

We booked a suite. The bedroom and the living room were very tired and needs a lot of work on them to bring to the standard we expect for a four star hotel. The shower is over the bath rather than being a walk in shower. There was no shaving mirror. The sockets in the bedroom need to be next to the bed. It needs to have more sockets for plugging in our telephone and iPads. The Spa is very good. We had massages and made good use of the jacuzzi, steam room and the sauna. The menu for the restaurant and the bar is limited to just a few dishes and the booking system for the restaurant needs attention. We turned up on time and the staff on the door said we had to sit outside! At 8.45pm it was cold and we didn’t have warm clothing with us. After several minutes we were shown to a table inside. There were some tables that were empty when we arrived and never got filled. We enjoyed our stay but we had a few little niggles.

No heating at all in the room and the restaurant food was terrible

Lovely stay, except the air con was not effective in room so had a sleepless first night, then after being offered fans had a better second night’s sleep.

We have been going back to this hotel for the last 6 years and it never disappoints, staff very friendly and the hotel facilities are excellent. Definitely recommend a visit 💕
