I loved my stay in Kyoto - I wish I stayed for longer - the staff is super sweet and helpful , it’s super clean , the room Was a very comfortable size and the hotel is located close to everything you might need if you are visiting Japan and would like the most touristic experience - yes - the hotel is in a very residential area and close to wonderful local restaurants, shops , etc - enjoy your stay !

This was a terrible hotel from top to bottom. The rooms were the smallest I have ever stayed in. The bathroom was some kind of prefabricated space out of a trailer park. Stay away!

Loved staying here. Great property, beautiful room, and very very helpful staff. A little inconvenient for wheelchair users needing to get in and out since their main entrance’s ramp is quiet narrow (couldn’t fit my Whill C2 on it even just not driving it, only rolling it down). That’s the only reason I’m not giving it 5/5 completely. Also the wooden tub is so so nice.

The staff that spoke English were nice enough but not accommodating enough. We were in the suites on the 5th floor and the rooms were super noisy making it hard to sleep with traffic outside. The hotel breakfast wasn’t great. Mediocre at best. It’s a nice property but they can definitely improve if they want to be exceptional

This hotel is excellent. They offer complimentary drinks (although I would prefer sweeter wine) the options are great. I like the fact that it is within walking distance from Kyoto Station so it made it very convenient for food and shops. The staffs are friendly and offered us routes and directions. A friend of ours ask where to go to find cherry blossom during non peak season and the staff delivered. We would come back to this hotel when we visit Kyoto again.

Absolutely amazing. I went to Hotel Kanra 2 years ago with my boyfriend, then AGAIN with my mom last year. The staffs here are AMAZING. I've travelled Japan for 3 months and been to every 5 star hotels, ryokans, everywhere- but nothing compares to Hotel Kanra staff's hospitality and professionalism. They remember the every details, and they're so kind and accomodating, I'm definitely going to book this hotel again next time I make a trip to Kyoto. The location is close to the subway station and well located, walkable everywhere. Bed is absolutely comfortable, I slept like a baby all 4 nights. I would praise praise and praise this hotel again!

Hotel Kanra was the best hotel of our stay in Japan. I cannot recommend enough. The rooms are large, very clean and quiet, the bathroom and bathtub are both great. The location is excellent (only a few blocks away from the station and next to a beautiful local monument) and the staff are very friendly and helpful. I wish every hotel could be as nice as this one. The breakfast has a lot of western and Japanese options so it’s easy to try new foods while getting a good meal. The lounge in the front is also a nice retreat after a long day of exploring Kyoto.

Wonderful hotel with nice staff! I loved the lounge with complimentary wine/beer/tea/coffee. however, the pictures led me to believe that they have a spa/sauna/pool area when in fact they only have a small spa for massage appointments which was disappointing.

I loved my stay in Kyoto - I wish I stayed for longer - the staff is super sweet and helpful , it’s super clean , the room Was a very comfortable size and the hotel is located close to everything you might need if you are visiting Japan and would like the most touristic experience - yes - the hotel is in a very residential area and close to wonderful local restaurants, shops , etc - enjoy your stay !

This was a terrible hotel from top to bottom. The rooms were the smallest I have ever stayed in. The bathroom was some kind of prefabricated space out of a trailer park. Stay away!

Cute hotel with Japanese style entrance to each room. Staff is super helpful. It is walking distance to the Kyoto station and subway.

Absolutely loved everything about this hotel! I loved Kyoto and would love to come back here and if I do it would absolutely be to hotel Kanra again.

Loved staying here. Great property, beautiful room, and very very helpful staff. A little inconvenient for wheelchair users needing to get in and out since their main entrance’s ramp is quiet narrow (couldn’t fit my Whill C2 on it even just not driving it, only rolling it down). That’s the only reason I’m not giving it 5/5 completely. Also the wooden tub is so so nice.

The staff that spoke English were nice enough but not accommodating enough. We were in the suites on the 5th floor and the rooms were super noisy making it hard to sleep with traffic outside. The hotel breakfast wasn’t great. Mediocre at best. It’s a nice property but they can definitely improve if they want to be exceptional

The ambiance was the most wonderful experience. Calm, serene, beautiful. The staff was polite and so helpful and gracious. We also want to mention Riho, who helped us prior to our stay with a change in the dates. Highly recommend!
