The hotel has a soothing vibe from the moment you walk through front door. The public bath was superb (segregated). Everything was clean and comfortable in the Japanese style room we boomed.

Nos hospedamos aquí en el 2020, nos gusto por privado, tranquilo las habitaciones pequeñas pero confortables, el servicio nos pareció más personalizado, sin embargo este 2025 nos pareció cambió un poco el concepto, ya no lo vimos cuidadoso con los detalles, no tiene la misma calidad. Los muebles de la habitación lucían un poco descuidados y la cama no era muy confortable. Una situación que me parecio incómoda fue que en el segundo día de hospedaje salimos de la habitación a las 11 am para recorrer la ciudad, y el personal de limpieza reportó que cuando llegaron estaba completamente totalmente la puerta de vidrio de la regadera Por supuesto que nosotros dejamos en orden toda la habitación y en perfecto estado. Nos dejaron una nota en la puerta y cuando llegado fuimos a recepcion Nos cambiaron a una habitación disponible que resultó más grande, no nos aplicaron costo adicional pero aún así me Pareció incómodo el momento. Jamás en ninguna estancia nos habia sucedido algo similar!! Otro detalle es que en la habitación nueva no funcionaba muy bien el aire acondicionado y era un poco asfixiante la sensación. En fin…. Una lástima por Granbell Creo elegiremos otra opción en nuestra próxima estancia en Kyoto Gracias

Everything was great except for the bed. Not very comfy. The staff are C wonderful. The location was perfect.

Great hotel with cool Onsen and amazing location. Walk to trains and great eating, shopping, drinking. Taxis could come up to door easily. Overall great stay.

This hotel with its interior architecture and lighting design had a very post modern/futuristic, Ex Machina vibe. Which I loved! The staff were great. And I was very happy with my one bedroom unit. The amenity of the public bath was the highlight of my stay. I couldn't wait to go every morning and see the mini zen garden with sun shining through the sky light. As that was the focal point because the public bath was usally dark with low dimmed sconce lights. Will love to stay in the other Granbell hotels in other prefecture's of Japan in the future!

The Hotel was good . The Buffet Breakfast not so good. Items that should have hot or warm were cold

Great hotel right in the heart of the city. Super convenient to be able to walk to Nishiki market and the surrounding areas with ease each day. The staff was super friendly and the amenities were great. Even had an onsen in the basement to wind down after a busy day. Would certainly recommend!

We enjoyed staying in this property although it would have been nice to have housekeeping done daily during our 5 night stay. We were scheduled 2 housekeeping where they changed the sheets. The other days, we had to bring out our used towels and rubbish bins which I thought wasn’t of great service. Outside the lifts on our room floor, was also quite messy with all the cleaning equipment and products set up near the lift in the morning. I was also expecting USB charging ports in the rooms but didn’t get any. Aside from that, the hotel was in a great location. The staff who stood out was the lady who wasn’t Japanese (curly hair, darker skin). I forgot her name, but she was so helpful, so polite and would go above and beyond to try and accommodate the guests requests. She’s a great asset to the hotel and I hope the rest of the staff learn from her.

This is the best hotel , hands down! Perfect location Gion, but 7 minute walk to Nishiki. Great bar and lobby, big rooms, wonderful Onsen! It is 5 star experience!!!!! Can’t wait to come back!

Everything was amazing. Perfect location. Only thing is the room cleaning which is every 3 days due to “eco-friendly” however they leave clean towels everyday at the door? Eco friendly wants to save water. I would suggest room cleaning with no towel change unless requested.

De kamer is erg klein en onpraktisch ingericht. Het ontbijt was koud en smaakloos, en absoluut niet de moeite waard, hooguit 2 sterren.

Comfortable hip room

This hotel is in a great location, kept up impeccably well, and at a reasonable price (for Kyoto!). Rooms here are small (you’ll have to live out of your luggage) but the beds and bathrooms are perfect. My only issues were our basement room (we agreed to it to shave the cost, but if I went again I would have upgraded to a view) and the tv is not foreign-friendly. They have an Apple TV you can hook up your account to, but I was not able to get mine past some regional permissions so I depended on a previous guests account!

Si deseas estar en el corazón de Kyoto y no tener la necesidad de caminar la ciudad, es una buena opción. Por el precio, yo recomiendo hospedarte fuera de la zona turística… Kyoto es bonito para caminarlo, no es necesario estar en el centro para apreciarlo.

Very clean and comfortable room. Helpful staff. Nice and quiet area and hotel. Easy for getting out to other areas of the city. The sento was wonderful. We did not use the bar or restaurant. We expected the Gion area to be livlier than it was, but Pontocho is just a short walk.
