Hampton Inn by Hilton Halifax Downtown

Promised a water view and promised to be allowed to check in at 2 pm. When checking in at 5 pm, told there would be a 45 minute wait to get the room ready. To get another room at 5 pm we were put in a non water view room, given free parking and free snacks for compensation for the non water view which we had booked months previously so we could watch sail gp from window. Disappointing for sure. We did appreciate the compensation but kind of ruined our stay not to have the water view.

Room was 400 CAD plus 30 for parking. The good Helpful staff, clean sheets nice TV free wifi The Bad The mattresses are brutal, very lumpy, almost no support barely slept a wink. Asked the following day but the hotel was fully booked up. Travellers before us must have had cats because there was the slight smell of litter or perhaps grit from dirty boots. Over all I needed the sleep more than the decor and cleanliness and sadly thats why the review is low.

Great downtown location

The bed was comfortable and the room was clean. A little expensive for what is offered and having to pay extra for parking. The breakfast was ok. Nothing special. I wouldn't stay here again at this price.

Super kind staff…needed to do laundry and the facilities were out of order so the hotel staff did our laundry for us! So helpful. Breakfast was delicious.

Walkable to the waterfront. Hotel was clean and breakfast was above average.

We checked in very late, close to midnight due to our flight, and received a less than warm reception. But after that, everything was great. Breakfast was good and had enough variety. Staff were friendly and helpful when we needed more towels and shampoo. And everything was clean and comfortable. One thing, though. This hotel is uphill from everything downtown so, for me, it wasn’t as walkable as I expected. This area of Halifax is all hill. If you have mobility issues, you’ll want to stay somewhere at the bottom of the hill.

Very new or refreshed hotel in the heart of Halifax. Room was spacious and comfortable! The morning breakfast is top notch with different offerings over the 3 days we stayed. The staff were always available and quite helpful. We would certainly stay again !

When we checked in, we never got a hospitality bag like others did also our room was never cleaned on the second night. They provided towels garbage bag so we had to do it ourselves. Had to call down cause we had no hot water had to wait two hours before we got some. On checkout they charged us another $250 instead of refund $250. We missed our breakfast because we had to hurry up and grab our flight. Besides all of that, it’s a nice hotel.

Brutal wifi for such a sizeable hotel chain. You might as well advertise as no wifi. Reminders me of 20 or 30 years ago. Contention with rest of customers for very little bandwidth or very few open connections Very disappointed just to get a news feed let alone stream a movie

Hotel is at a decent location in downtown Halifax. Close walk to the citadel and about 10-15 mins away from waterfront. You will most likely need to pay for on site covered parking because there aren’t many free spaces. Rooms were basic and clean. Elevators are slow and there are only 2. When it is busy, elevators can take 5-10mins. Breakfast is also basic, usually eggs, pork sausages/bacon and roasted potatoes, a bread and waffle section. There is a Filipino bakery/cafe beside the hotel if you want other food and beverage options. There is one microwave in the lobby (dirty and did not work when I tried to warm up food). Lobby staff and cleaners are friendly. The basement has laundry, indoor pool and gym.

We recently stayed at this hotel for the weekend. Overall, the experience was average. The rooms themselves were comfortable and appeared clean, which we appreciated. However, there were several areas that could use improvement. The lobby was not very inviting, with stained couches and décor that seemed neglected, including picture frames leaning against walls rather than being properly hung. It gave the impression that common areas were not being maintained as well as they could be. While the beds were comfortable, the bed sheets did not fit properly and continually came loose throughout the night, which was frustrating. The stay wasn't terrible, but there are definitely some details that need attention to improve the overall guest experience.

The room was great and staff was amazing only thing that could have made it better was a hot tub.

Was a good stay, the only thing was there was no parking so had to pay public parking for a few hours

Expedia should drop this Hampton hotel off the list of places to stay in Halifax Nova Scotia...I travel a lot & never stayed at a Hampton inn like this before. .Construction, dirt & dust everywhere. No microwave in the rooms & when we asked for one it was dirty. We had to clean it ourselves, The front staff were rude most of the time. We asked to speak to the manager multiple times & no reply, The room was not cleaned well at all so we had to buy things from Walmart to clean it up. I canceled 3 days not to come back back ever. Spoke to other people & they felt the same way. We had to pay $28,00 a night to park in a nasty garage that really needed to be tore down. Had old furniture in there & was not kept clean at all. I will contact the corporation of Hilton because we need to be reimbursed in some way We bought food to go in the fridge on our first night & the next day we had to throw everything out because the fridge was broken. No reimbursement from them at all. Then we had to spend 21/2 hours of our vacation dealing with getting a new fridge in our room. Disgusted!!!!~!!

The wait time time for the elevator. Same elevator for guess and staff for 16 floors. The wait time was ridiculously long

The hotel was undergoing extensive renovations at the time and the smell of fresh paint permeated the hallways. Building supplies were transported in the hotel's guest elevators.
