Booked this for a member of staff to stay while in the area working. Below are her concern's Would it be possible for me not to stay at the Hotel Tennyson again? Unfortunately, it didn’t feel very safe. I wasn’t able to lock the room door from the inside, and when I arrived the only way to get in was with the help of some people hanging around outside. The building is also used as an HMO and the corridors smelled strongly of weed. A couple of things advertised weren’t available either — no breakfast (despite the welcome information saying it would be in the room) and the Wi‑Fi passwords they provided didn’t work. At one point the TV kept switching channels even though no one else was in the room, and despite having a “Do Not Disturb” sign on the door, someone still entered the room.

The room was great; the hotel had no staff (on site) as I arrived at 2330 and left at 0600 and it is self check in.

Positives first - room was spotlessly clean and tidy, bedding smelt freshly washed, milk in the fridge along with a few items for breakfast such as yogurts, tin of beans, cereal boxes, tea/coffee Negatives - if a leading chain of hotels nearby is classed as a budget hotel, then this is a super budget hotel, not sure how it’s meant to be 4*. The beds were very springy and uncomfortable, we didn’t use the shared areas as the other people staying there made us feel uncomfortable as we were two ladies. Strong smell of weed and one man was wearing clothes with stores security tags still on them. He offered to help us to our room with the door code and we said no. The main negative which I’ve already contacted the management about is the part where it is advertised there is ‘limited on site parking’. We filtered hotels which have on site parking as one of us has a disability. We took this to mean a small on site car park so first come first served. Wrong. We received the email with the door codes the day before, it stated on there our room is not allocated a parking space so we have to park on the street. However the hotel is on a main road so there is no parking directly outside. I contacted management and received a sharp and rude reply as I told them that it’s actually false advertising. They should explain in more detail about only certain rooms are allowed to park in the car park

It was clean but had an unpleasant smell of smoke that didn't go away for a long time even though we aired the room for at least one hour . They also don't say anything on their booking .com ad that parking space is not available for all rooms and they don't give instructions on where to find one.

The Room, itself, was clean and comfortable and the stuff, left for breakfast, was appreciated plus plenty of tea, sugar and milk. Tennyson is also well located. My only issue was getting into the property itself; the door seemed to stick.

Clean room, lovely smell of clean, washed bedding.

I booked 2 rooms. Mine was ok, apart from a very lumpy mattress (you could feel the springs coming through) and a couple of dead light bulbs. My daughter’s room however stank of cigarette smoke despite being a non- smoking room. We tried to air it by opening all the windows, but it soon came back as its impregnated in the fabric of the room. I tried to make contact with the staff. They still haven’t replied to me. When I phoned the customer service they would extremely rude and completely unhelpful. He belittled me and said it was just my nose. My husband and daughter both have asthma and were being triggered by the smoke. She ended up sleeping on our floor. I definitely wouldn’t recommend this place. The customer service was zero. The Continental breakfast was just cheap sliced bread, a children’s variety box of cereal and an unbranded yoghurt. It had potential but seriously let down by the customer service and lack of staff.

Pleasantly surprised and would highly recommend. Room was spacious and clean. Loved the wines glasses! The breakfast was perfectly adequate and the shared kitchen clean and pleasant to sit in. We paid for carpark and were allowed to leave car the next for a visit of the city. A nice 20 minutes walk along the canal. Host very prompt and polite by text once we had booked. Great price for the convenience and facilities. Thank you ☺️

The whole hotel was spotless ill be staying again

Easy check in with the self serve function. Room easy to find. Felt like the building was quite tired. A fair few little maintenance niggles. Squeaky doors, handles missing from wardrobe etc. Breakfast wasn’t a continental breakfast, was quite poor in options really. Ended up having to have breakfast out. The bed was comfy one side and then the other side was lumpy. The pillows AWFUL! I understand it’s on a main road but it sounded like loads of gaps in the windows as it felt like you was on the road. Couldn’t control the heating in the room. Central heating on all night/day. I understand it wasn’t on the expensive side of hotel/guest room. But something like a comfy pillow and bed is bare minimum you expect.

Nice budget rental, clean and quiet.

On arrival despite being advised that there was parking there was about 4 spaces which were all taken. It was 10pm and nowhere else anywhere near to park so I ended up giving up and driving home and didn't stay

Very disappointed!! Expected hotel quality accommodation, for the price, but got poor hostel quality. Needs updating,quite shabby, faces onto a use road. Despite requesting a ground floor room, stating poor mobility, I was allocated a 1st floor room up a 15 stair flight of stairs!! Advisory/info email sent after my window to cancel.!! Bathroom was adequate, but shower had no slip mat or grab rails!! Health &safety matter, along with stiff & heavy front door, pretty dangerous in an emergency evacuation situation. Weird system of No staff on site, key safe system for room key!! just an emergency/ support phone number!! No useful help given when contacted about a relatively minor problem, faulty TV. Left to sort it out myself! Eventually discovered the cleaning staff had left it unplugged, despite being informed by the support person I spoke to on the phone, that the cleaning staff ALWAYS tested all electrical equipment before leaving!! He told me there was nothing he could about my problem, “as all the staff had gone home”!!! Not an encouraging thought if anything serious happened during the night. Thankfully I was only booked in for 1 night. Wi-Fi was poor. The kitchen was on the ground floor, meaning negotiating that flight of stairs if I needed more than a cuppa. On the plus side, the bed was comfortable. As you may suspect I will not be booking again, in the future!!

The breakfast was was left in the room . 4 slices of bread for 2 persons. The mattress on both beds were absolutely useless , could feel the springs when you sleeping, I think the owner needs to replace the mattress, talking to other guests , they also commented the same !!

Clean, comfortable room, with enough food for a good breakfast. A little out of the centre of Lincoln, maybe 1 mile, which if your happy with then this property offers excellent value for money.

Everything was good for the price

Excellent value for money. Comunal kitchen so great ifvyou would like to grab a take away from the many places around the corner. Only thing i would say is a lot of road noise in the room however they do provide earplugs which help. Overall very happy.
