It is a great stopover. Rooms are above the pub. Not a problem. It is on a busy road so you do get traffic noise. Didn’t get to catch breakfast as we left early. Nice staff.

Great cheap hotel near the city centre. Needs a little TLC in rooms. Friendly staff and lovely bar downstairs.

Staff were friendly, breakfasts excellent. Good atmosphere in the bar. Room needed a good dusting round the ceiling as cobwebs were hanging down.

Easy15 mins, to walk into town centre. Situated on a Very busy road, so traffic noise at night, which we were aware of when booking. Old building. In need of complete refurbish in bedrooms, Bathroom/toilet door did not close. Sour smell in bathroom, which filtered into bedroom. Very welcoming on arrival, all staff very helpful. Busy bar in an evening. Food available if required.

A small hotel that doubles as a bar and restaurant with pool tables and darts. The room is relatively small, we spent around 120 pounds to book a room about 13 square meters, so the value for money is average. But the staff are very friendly. Breakfast is optional, 12.5 pounds per person, and the freshly made English breakfast is fantastic. Overall, I would give it 4.2 Stars!

Very reasonable rates. Quiet, even though there is a large pub on the ground floor, the noise was not really noticeable. I would definitely stay again.

You can’t beat the location of this cute little pub on the outskirts of the city centre. On-site parking was a huge plus. The breakfasts and dinners at the pub were reasonable and very tasty. Atmosphere of the pub was great. The beds probably need replacing as the springs were gone and they creak badly every time you turn slightly. The music from the pub or road noise might be a bit annoying if you don’t like staying up late, but it wasn’t too bad. Overall a lovely stay that was very convenient to the town centre without being right in the hustle and bustle.

Everything you need, good location, was comfortable, we got a nice welcome and showed around, was a really good stay.

The staff were lovely! I was out all day for the snooker so I left my bag with Molly who also allowed me an early key. Breakfast was just the ticket in the morning and my off menu order wasn't a problem! A great stay and a good find! 😊

Lovely property to stay, very clean and staff were very nice and helpful. Ideal location to walk around York. Would definitely stay again.

First the positives, the area was really convenient for the barbican theatre, and was relatively quiet compared to central York. Once the pub closed downstairs the place was nice and quiet and I got a really good nights sleep in the comfy bed, and the blackout curtains were great. I felt safe as a solo female traveller which is a huge plus, and all the staff were so friendly and welcoming and happy to help. Also, to have tea and biscuits in the room was a nice touch. Overall, well worth the money as such a reasonable price. However slightly let down with the cleanliness as parts of the room (especially the bathroom) felt outdated and a little on the grubby side, also the handle on the outside of my door was hanging off, meaning I had to swing and slam it shut so I could leave things safely in the room, which I felt was poor and really should have been fixed before guests stayed in the room. Having said that, I would definitely stay again and would recommend if you’re looking for somewhere cheap and convenient, as long as the issue with the door was fixed.

Handy place to stay whilst we visited the Barbican for the Snooker final. It was a short walk from there. Staff were friendly, ample parking on site, food and drink were at good prices and the food was lovely. The pub and room had a traditional 'York' feel about them, but we're still well kept and clean with all the facilities you require. Will definitely stop there again.

York is a lovely city but sooooo many visitors !
