Parador de Cáceres

Only 15 parking spaces and no advice to book in advance not even mentioned in their mail regarding hotel carpark. Public carpark abt. 8€ by taxi ( parking with hotel reduction abt. 12€). Rather complicated to find and get taxi. No tea/coffee facilities ( or drinking water) in the room. Have stayed in 6 other Paradores on this trip and this is "below standard" compared to all others which were top.

Lugar mágico

The staff at this Parador were wonderful. The rooms were large, quiet and clean. Food in the restaurant was good. Overall, a great experience, including the opportunity to walk from the hotel and see the historic city.

Desk people always with a smile and available!!

We stayed for one night and loved the medieval building and the surroundings as you can reach all the points of interest within a few minutes walking distance. The hotel is the heart of the old town and beautifully located on top of the hill. Lots of hidden bars/cafes in the old town were nice surprises as tou could have a drink within the massive walls of the old town. SecretTip: El Corral de las cigueñas The only complaint in the hotel: The room door slams very loudly and you can hear all the neighboring room doors slam in your own room.

A lovely cool Parador with very helpful staff. The historic features of this hotel in the centre of a most fascinating town made it a delightful stay.

Das Parador Hotel liegt in der märchenhaften Altstadt von Cáceres...auf dem Hügel. Parken geht nur "unten". Es sind zwar nur ein paar Minuten Fußweg...aber bergauf. Das Parador ist ein ehemaliger Palast und daher ein wundervolles und prächtiges Gebäude. Der Empfang durch Luis war sehr höflich, zuvorkommend und sehr serviceorientiert. Wir hatten ein Zimmer im oberen Stock - geräumig und sehr sauber. Bequeme Betten und sehr ruhig. Manko war die Klimaanlage, die sich in der Lüftungsintensität nicht steuern ließ. An oder aus. Im laufenden Betrieb war die zu laut, um gut zu schlafen, und ohne war die Luft schnell stickig. Das Zimmer hat leider etwas "muffig" gerochen. Die Rezeption hat bei Check Out eine Prüfung und Behebung zugesagt. Fazit: ein gutes Hotel in einem tollen historischen Gebäude, inmitten der Altstadt - mit einem sensationellen Empfang

What a gem

Good hotel but not a good location if yoou have a car. Access to the old town is restricted by very narow oneway streets. Parking is available half a mile away if you can find it. It also costs around €15 and the garage is pretty tight.

We were not able to stay in the parador because it is under construction and completely closed. We had a paid reservation and they cancelled. However, they did provide an alternative hotel of similar quality at the same price, and we were quite well pleased with the substitution.

Parking is a pain

Parking is off site, so be prepared to lug your suitcases for a bit of a walk. The hotel, however, is amazingly nice. The rooms are slightly above average, but the building itself is a 14th century masterpiece. Breakfast is decent. The little lounge cafe is great to have for an afternoon tea or evening cocktail. The annual medieval festival was underway during our stay. I woke up to parishioners singing at 6am mass. It was a very memorable experience

It is a beautiful property. The city is amazing and felt very safe. The twin beds pushed together was a disappointment and the staff seemed a bit unwelcoming.

The gentleman at the desk was very helpful with parking. Staff was friendly.

Amazing location in the old city. Can’t be beaten if you’re visiting for the history.

This Parador in the historic centre of Caceres, which is an UNESCO Heritage site. What the website fails to mention is that no traffic is allowed into the historic centre so you cannot drive to the Parador. This was only explained to us, by email, three days before we arrived. I was with my wife and able to follow the instructions given. f I had been on my own or had not been able to check my email I may well have gone into the prohibited zone, the signs were not large or particularly clear, and been fined. My wife had to walk to the Parador to check us in. I was then collected and taken to a car park in centre of town. I was charged €23 to park a motorbike there which was more than twice the amount of any other hotel, but I really had no choice. If I had known these arrangements beforehand, I probably would not have booked this Parador but one of the many hotels in the main town instead. Our room had high windows and felt like a cell. The service in restaurant at dinner was rushed. We ordered two veal dishes but only one arrived. The waiter said that there had been a mistake and another was being “prepared”. It was not clear whether it was his mistake or that of the kitchen staff. Meanwhile, the first dish was left with us to get cold. Within less than five minutes the second dish came. As we had asked for it cooked medium we were surprised it was this quick, that is until my wife cut into it. It was virtually raw and inedible. I refused to pay for that it was so bad.
