Overall great experience at a historic hotel.

Booked two rooms for 1 night, king size bed, standard room.

Staff and breakfast excellent!

The property is gorgeous and in the best central inner harbour location. Service was exemplary and the staff was as attentive and wonderful as one would expect from such a storied lodging. We attended afternoon tea one day and it was also marvelous, delicious and lovely. We had a king room with "city" view - mostly because we couldn't remotely afford anything with a harbour view, as we were there on a weekend in peak season, mid July. In our case, the room was on the first floor and the "city" view was in reality a view of the other outside walls of the building, roof equipment, etc. Two complaints about the washroom in the room. First, a rain style shower head shouldn't be the ONLY shower head. The glass half-enclosure was odd, and made it difficult to actually turn the shower on without standing in the tub and trying to dodge the initial cold water output. Second, the toilet tissue was so far back and under the sink countertop that it made actually dispensing the tissue awkward and difficult. The bed was very comfy and the A/C worked very well. Our HUGE complaint about our stay was the fire alarm that went off after midnight on our first night. The entire hotel evacuated in a very poorly run and badly routed event that if real, would likely have resulted in injuries and worse. There was zero information offered or provided about what happened and zero was done to offer ANY kind of compensation to hotel guests for this. So, our experience was certainly mixed.

We had the “fairmount gold” package and I would strongly recommend. The staff were so helpful and kind. The packages includes so many additions and is was worth the upgrade. The property has been renovated and is simply the best in Victoria.

A must place to stay when visiting Victoria. The property is located at the middle of everything and it is picture perfect for those looking for the best photos. The property has aged well and it is carefully maintained. The highlight is the immaculate service and friendly staff. One of the best experiences of my life. I am a hard critic and I do not give 5 stars easily but I would give it 6 if I could, just because of the wonderful staff. Shoutout to Casper. The property is wide and spreads across its 6 floors, so be ready to walk to your room. The harbor views are stunning. The area is nice to work around. Bathrooms are a bit tight and the European style shower glass takes somewhat getting use to but we have enough experience to manage well. Le Labo amenities are nice!!

Everything about the Empress was so amazing! Highly recommend the Gold! Well worth the experience. Staff are amazing, valet service was convenient and practical. Will definitely be staying there again
