During checkout, I was humiliated in a way I’ve never experienced in any hotel around the world. The receptionist demanded me to open my suitcase in the middle of the hotel lobby, in front of other guests, to check for a missing towel. It turned out to be a small, plain white hand towel — nothing distinctive or valuable — and I had no issue being charged for it. But the situation was handled in the most unprofessional and disrespectful way possible. There is no justification for exposing a guest like this.
The embarrassment of opening my personal belongings in public was entirely unnecessary and deeply invasive. This goes against everything hospitality should stand for: respect and trust.
Even if there was suspicion, the matter could have been resolved privately, discreetly, or even after my departure. The lack of basic courtesy and common sense shown was astonishing.
This experience completely overshadowed my stay. I hope the hotel reflects on how unacceptable this was and takes steps to prevent it from happening to others. I will also be sharing this review on other platforms. No guest should ever be treated this way.
