Breakfast was plenty full, hot fresh and tasty, lots of variety. Staff were attentive. From the welcome desk to the house keepers to the night time turn down team. Everyone was very welcoming . Hotel was clean, room was spacious and the bathroom had a full bath and a walk in shower . Fresh towels daily (if you wanted them changing)

Hotel and staff were perfect. Room was large with a comfortable bed. Hotel has all amenities easily accessible. Walking distance to Valletta.

This is meant to be a 5* hotel. I would say there were elements of 5*, 4* and 3*. The staff were the best thing about the hotel - they really tried hard to make up for the dated nature of the property . The room was nice - had all that you would expect and lovely views of the bay. However, it was a bit rough around the edges but I expected that after reading the reviews. I was happy overall as I paid what I considered to be a fair price. Would I stay again - yes but it wouldn’t be my first choice . I stayed in March when a lot of the other boutique hotels are closed.

Sauberes Zimmer mit Balkon und toller Aussicht aufs Wasser. Inneneinrichtung ist schon etwas in die Jahre gekommen, es hat aber alles funktioniert und war sauber. Tolle Lage, 10 Minuten zu Fuß von der Altstadt entfernt. Sehr freundliches Personal.

We found the Excelsior to be ideally located near the entrance to Valletta, with a welcoming and most accommodating staff. From the moment we walked through the front door, we could tell we were going to have a wonderful stay, from the grand stairway, lobby bar, buffet restaurant and dining room, to our room. We arrived early on a flight from Sicily and asked if we could check our bags. Instead, they found a room for us and we were in our room before 10 AM. We need taxi service to various places we wanted to visit on the island and all was taken care of with a request at the conciere desk. We plan to return next year. Malta is wonderful and the Excelsior enhanced our stay appreciably.

Zimmer sehr sauber, genau wie beschrieben, jeder Zimmer hat einen Balkon. Personal sehr nett, Frühstück sehr reichhaltig, auf jedem Tisch würde kaffeekanne hingestellt. Sehr empfehlenswert

Köket borde kunna bättre. Kvalitet och service motsvar inte förväntningarna på ett 5 stjärnigt hotell. Trots detta skulle vi gärna återvända

The positive first:Extremely nice staff and ideal location. How this hotel can be rated a 5 star hotel is beyond me! Even though we tried two different rooms, the experience was the same: Very outdated rooms! Moldy smell from the anything but clean carpet. Bathroom tiles cracked everywhere and mold in the shower. The rooms were - best case - a 3 star rating worthy. I have to stress that the room maids were the sweetest and best ever, and that the staff in general did a good job. But having paid for a 5 star hotel, our disappointment cannot be hidden. Our first and last visit to this hotel.

Lovely location and nice room with great view. Shower was not good - v difficult to get temperature correct and badly positioned so hard to get under the shower head! Air con was feeble. Pool is lovely but beach is v scruffy not nice (and I changed since our last visit two years ago. Unfortunately a member of staff spilt a whole tray of drinks, including red wine (not even ours!) on my wife which was shocking and resulted in two days of trying get our clothes cleaned. They didn't even offer us a free drink let alone a discount on the final bill. Not sure we'll be back.

Beautiful hotel!! A fantastic two week stay. The room was lovely and the buffet breakfast was amazing. Highly recommend to anyone who wants a luxury hotel in a great location.

Decor is dated but service and staff both excellent

Good hotel with good location. Very close to the bus terminal which is very convenient. Staff, breakfast and location excellent. Gym and pool was good.
