I had a wonderful stay at this hotel. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel welcome. George was especially helpful, and the front desk team was always polite, accommodating, and professional. We were celebrating my best friend’s birthday, and the hotel surprised her with a bottle of champagne and a thoughtful handwritten note. It was such a kind gesture that made our stay even more special. My favorite part of the hotel was the rooftop pool and hot tub overlooking Old San Juan. The views were absolutely beautiful and made for a relaxing experience. The location couldn’t have been better. It’s in the heart of everything—Coach, Marshalls, Drunken Cookie, restaurants, shops, and many attractions were all within walking distance, making it easy to explore without needing a car. What made this hotel truly memorable is its rich history. As a historic landmark, it was incredible to walk through the same halls that generations before us once did. That added a unique and meaningful touch to our visit. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting San Juan. The outstanding service, perfect location, beautiful amenities, and historic charm made it an unforgettable experience.

Fantastic all around.

Our room was clean and gorgeous, and the huge balcony/terrace was easily a favorite part of our honeymoon stay.

When we booked, I was a bit concerned because reviews were either excellent or quite disappointing--with very little in between. It all depends on the room assigned! When we first arrived, we were ushered to a rather dark and very musty room on the first floor. It's an old historic hotel and I tried to be understanding when my request for a change was met with a promise for housekeeping to refresh. Once the windows were closed for overnight, however, the dankness returned and irritated my sinuses enough to require medication in the morning. I politely insisted that we be moved that day and was accommodated by Rachel once the checkout period was over. The new room on the top floor was sunny and fresh. No more sinus symptoms! Then, I was able to really enjoy the gorgeous historic property with charming courtyard, the lovely views, the PERFECT location with easy walking throughout Old San Juan to restaurants and attractions, daily coffee on the terrace, and the excellent bar. In addition, a relationship with a property on Isla Verde enabled us to have a lovely beach day with complimentary chairs, towels, etc. And Rachel and her colleagues (am forgetting his name) were gracious in checking in to make sure our stay was improved and all was well. I'd highly recommend.

Value and amenities doesn’t match the price Beautiful hotel with historical charm. Ideal for a daily visit/ tour or a very short stay. Some staff could be a bit warmer and more welcoming. Mattress could be updated for comfort. Patio could be maintained more. Also, would recommend candles for insects. The modern updates clash with historical charm. Lighting abnormalities in room. Water marks in bathroom ceiling. Bathroom shower not user friendly - prone to flooding bathroom. Overall a 3/5 experience in a beautiful and unique hotel.

I highly recommend this property. It's beauty and history are incredible. The hotel pays for a walking history tour of the hotel and old San Juan which was great. I enjoyed the complementary coffee in the morning and wine and cheese in the evening. Walking distance to restaurants, bars, and shopping.

Staying at Hotel El Convento was the best decision I made when deciding to stay in Old San Juan. The employees ensure you have the most pleasant experience and are very responsive. The hotel itself is absolutely beautiful and blends in with the Old San Juan aesthetic. It has a lot of fascinating history mixed in with the local art displayed throughout the hotel. I would stay here again.

Perfect location right in Old San Juan! Although small, we enjoyed the rooftop pool. Would stay here again!

Amazing stay. The hotel beautiful and very romantic. Right in the heart of Old San Juen, just stepping the door puts you in walking distance of restaurants, bars, shops and site seeing spots. I highly recommend the hotel to everyone.

Excellent location, walkable to all the things in old San Juan that you would want to see! Staff was helpful and kind. They had cold bottled water available at all times. Nice wine and cheese reception in the evening. Cool building with a lot of history.

Friendly & helpful staff made our stay stress free. Convenient location for walking throughout the Old Town area. Highly recommend the historical tour at the hotel. Several places to eat within walking distance.
