pros: Reception staffs are nice and friendly. Room is large Good air conditioning (hard to find in UK!) Security measure make me feels secure Close to train station cons: Clearer are not clearing rooms after their first approach (around 10:00), even with the clearing light on ( we left at 12:30), three nights in a row. Standard breakfast ( All day breakfast cereal coffee&juice) Incident: At the first day of our arrival, the hotel ran into a problem of drought tap. The hotel said it was a problem about the water supplier, therefore, they can't do much on it. The water need to wait until the third day to be fixed. I do understand that they can't actually do anything on it as it is a supplier issue but as a customer, I must stand on my right. A hotel that cannot supply water for two days is a big issue, plus, they don't take much action on it, only giving out bottled water and a paper of apology. I felt so disappointed on it, if the hotel can't do anything on it, at least they need to issue a refund, as the use of water should be the basic right to stay in a hotel.

Everything about this room and the staff were excellent!

Positives: The staff were very polite, the beds were comfy and the room was generally clean overall (save the top of the mirror). Negatives: The air con in the room did not work, so the room temperature was 27C all night with no way of opening the window. They knew this, because there were two fans in the wardrobe and because I overheard the check-in staff questioning whether they should use the room I was given (they were fully booked, so "had to"). I was not told about the air con not working, which is incredibly poor to just hope that people aren't going to notice/complain. The main shower head was also broken, making it unusable unless you fancied the idea of sitting underneath a strong tap. Luckily the second shower head was fine. Overall: I do not believe the room should have been available to book with the air conditioning not working, particularly considering the price. This is why I'm leaving this negative review.

No fridge in our standard room. The carpet in our room was the dirtiest I have ever seen in any room —- stains everywhere . This is not a 4 star establishment .

Whole trip was underwhelming. Rooms are lovely and clean. Hotel is very busy reception cannot help with things like bringing hairdryers… the soap dispenser was broken.

Great room - not much in the way of toiletries but the basic handwash and shower wash were ok. Only used the bar which was good. Very slow on reception - even though we checked in online we still had to wait over 10 minutes for them to process a customer in front of us, so we could collect the key. I didn't see the point in checking in online if we still had this wait. Two people on reception and about 8 people waiting to check in or get keys.

The room was clean, the staff were lovely and the foyer was beautiful!

Room card didint work first time. Tried to charge me for breakfast when I already paid. Air con stopped working overnight. Breakfast food not bad, but no staff around.

A decent stay but air con was on maintenance mode, the smart tv wasn’t working and only had a couple of regular channels. I didn’t have the time to ask the staff to fix as was on an in and out Business trip and tired - so was more of an inconvenience - they possibly would have fixed if they had the opportunity.

Nice hotel reasonably priced for the area and convenient for the city centre. Bar was nice and prices OK for a hotel. Staff were friendly and helpful. Would have got five stars but little things were not quite right. For example there was a USB port in the room but t did not work. No sweeteners on the coffee try. These are picky things and I would stay here again. Only stayed one night so cannot say if things would have been sorted if I had brought them to the staffs attention.

Quick check-in, helpful and friendly staff, clean and modern rooms (bed v comfortable, HDTV). Breakfast and coffee exceeded expectations too. Better than the places on Broad Street!

This was the 02nd time I stayed at Clayton in June, and both occasions the Air conditioning was not working, and as it is very hot at night, it was unbearably hot. I felt that it has never been maintained or repaired. This is quite annoying with this heat, and especially i booked this place to treat my family, and could not enjoy the stay at the hotel due to the A.C not working and had to spent time at the Reception desk negotiating to have another room, which was not the case.

I stayed at the Clayton Hotel Birmingham a few times about 12 years ago and remember it being quite stylish and well maintained (I don't think it had been open that long). Sadly, this time was a disappointment, with dirty stained carpets, bathroom fittings with missing covers and a very uninspiring room (with one USB port and not near the bed!). I was paying for a second room for family members so wanted a hotel that they would feel special in - this wasn't the case. The positive aspects were i) a gym that isn't just a bedroom with a few running machines in (shame they don't have a water machine in the gym though), ii) very helpful and friendly staff and iii) located in, what feels like, a safe area and not far from New Street and Moor Street stations. I hope a bit of a refurbishment is planned, as there are far nicer hotels available for a similar price.

Great hotel in a good location. Modern spacious room although the TV is of a budget design with no smart features which is becoming more common in mid range hotels. Staff were friendly and helpful and the food choice and quality at breakfast was excellent.

Always a great stay at The Clayton!

Easy online check-in made arrival quick and hassle-free, with fast service at reception. My allocated room wasn’t quite ready when I arrived, so I was kindly upgraded, which was a lovely surprise. I ended up with a spacious room and a super king-size bed all to myself. I attended a conference at the hotel, and both the service and the food were excellent throughout. The staff were professional and attentive, helping to make the experience very enjoyable. If I am ever in Birmingham again, I will definitely stay at the Clayton Hotel.
