★★★☆☆ 3/5 Our stay at Sofitel Munich Bayerpost was pleasant enough, but overall somewhat disappointing given the hotel’s reputation, five-star status and premium pricing. The location adjacent to Munich Hauptbahnhof is excellent and makes exploring the city and onward rail travel very convenient. The room was clean and comfortable, but surprisingly compact, with less space than we had expected from a luxury hotel. Unfortunately, several aspects of the experience fell short. The in-room television lacked smart TV functionality and offered little programming beyond German-language channels. The fitness centre was small and inadequately equipped, with limited space and equipment. Service throughout the hotel was largely absent rather than poor—staff were polite, but there was little of the attentiveness or hospitality one expects from a Sofitel property. Food and beverage offerings were expensive and, in our experience, average in quality. There was nothing fundamentally wrong with our stay, and the hotel served as a comfortable base for our time in Munich. However, for the price paid, we expected a considerably higher standard of facilities, service and overall experience. We left feeling that the Sofitel Munich Bayerpost trades more on its reputation and location than on delivering a truly five-star experience.

beautiful place

Located near the main train station, thus not the best area, but safe and walking distance to the old town. Hotel itself is great, but the staff and management were even better, very caring and accommodative when we had a maintenance issue with the plumbing.

There was an issue with water supply which I was not made aware of at check-in. So in the middle of having a shower having arrived at the hotel after midnight, I suffered 3rd° burn when the cold water supply ran out. The check-in after midnight tinted my stay at the hotel staff member was less than helpful or enthusiastic. Appreciate it was late at night but it’s still a very tired traveller coming into a five star hotel and expected the standard to be five star. When I was asked a check out how my day was I did explain the above and got no apology or any gesture from the morning staff. I stayed at this hotel a few years back on a trip to Munich and the staff couldn’t have been more helpful at the time. I judged my experience this time against that bar.

Lovely modern hotel with good sized rooms and great staff. Great quality breakfast

Excellent hotel, great location not far at all from the main center where you find lots of shopping and restaurants. The staff are very nice would definitely stay there again.

Staff was awesome! 10/10

This staff were all super friendly and helpful and the breakfast was superb. I never saw my husband eat so much for breakfast in 43 years. He gained a much needed 5 pounds and I'm sure it was the breakfasts! But the pool is a must experience as it is like swimming in a grotto. Also loved the proximity to Central train station to easily travel for site-seeing.

Clean room, staff and breakfast

The hotel lobby have a food kitchen smell and think it needs to be revisited. The room is great and location is great. Breakfast is very bad and poor selection I would not recommend it.

Not a 5 star hotel. Furniture is either chipped or stained, the hair dryer was not working, minimal vanity kits, no hangers in the wardrobe, the light in the room was poor and the room was dark, the body lotion tub was empty, breakfast and general food in the hotel was meh, coffee was horrible, room service far too expensive for the food quality, spa area is okay (the massages are one thing I’d definitely recommend). Most inconveniences were fixed with a call to the front desk and a bit of a wait, but even so it just shows a lack of attention to detail and care for customers, especially for the price paid and the stars it claims to have. Stayed at better Sofitels in the past (i.e., Sofitel in Gdansk Poland) Sadly would not recommend or return to this one.

The concierge is never available. Never on time when we are told they start. Very limited hours and support for a hotel of this stature. Also, i had them ship a package for me. That took over a month to get done. No follow up. This is the same hotel that when Covid started and I wasn’t allowed top fly into Munich Germany they refused to reimburse me. Kept my money and never offered a credit of any kind. Finally. Try and reach them. Very difficult via phone..

Ich habe mich rundum wohl gefühlt, sehr freundliches, zuvorkommendes Personal, eine angenehme Atmosphäre. Nur der Wellness Bereich war mir zu dunkel und ich fand es mehr als störend, dass man bei der Massage das Gefühl hatte in den Räumen über einem werden schwere Möbel gerückt, umgestoßen, ..., da war das Abschalten schwer, wenn man immer wieder zusammengezuckt ist. Sonst, sehr zu empfehlen!

The hotel is essentially attached to the main train station, which is a super plus for daily travel and a bit of a minus in the evening where there are some shady characters on the street. The big minus for us was the fact that the bathroom is essentially entirely exposed to the room, with a sliding glass enclosure that does not block sound or sight. We had a superior room but barely any room around the bed so nothing gained from the supposed savings for not having physical walls for the bathroom. Hotel service is great, check in was super easy and fast. If we had to stay in Munich again, perhaps one of the other many hotels near the train station with real bathrooms a better option.

O quarto razoável para ruim. Quarto muito pequeno, antigo, e precisaria de um retrofit geral, em equipamentos inclusive para funcionarem adequadamente.

I arrived at the hotel at 12:30pm; I was told that I couldn’t get my room as it wasn’t ready until 3pm. However if I paid 120 Euro then a room was suddenly available right then. Highly questionable
