About Dubai flights

Sometimes you just want a trip that feels a little bit larger than life. That’s Dubai. Mornings in the souks, afternoons poolside, nights where every sunset looks straight out of a postcard. If you’re up for swapping your usual view for something seriously different, this city’s calling your name.

How long is the flight to Dubai

Which airlines fly direct to Dubai

  • Emirates: Full-service airline known for top-notch in-flight meals, generous baggage allowance, and an award-winning frequent flyer program.

Although Emirates is the only airline flying direct to cities in Australia, there are plenty of carriers offering one-stop flights too. So if you’re after just the cheapest fare, it may be worth considering stopovers, too.

Where you can fly direct to Dubai from

  • Emirates: Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth, Sydney

Where is the airport in Dubai?

Dubai International Airport (DXB) sits just 5 kms east of the city centre, tucked near Al Garhoud. If traffic’s cooperating, you’re looking at a 10–20 minute drive from downtown.

Getting to the airport from the city centre is pretty straightforward. Taxis are everywhere and metered, so you won’t need to haggle. If you’re travelling a bit lighter or just want to save a few dirhams, the Dubai Metro is a solid bet. It runs straight to Terminals 1 and 3. Buses head out that way too, but they’re slower and not great if you’ve got a lot of bags.

When is the cheapest time to fly to Dubai

If you can handle a bit of serious heat, May to September usually serves up the lowest fares. You’ll be sticking to the shade and loving the aircon, but you’ll also be pocketing the savings. Prices tend to shoot up between November and February, when the weather’s cooler, the beaches are packed, and hotel prices climb fast.

Visa/Passport requirements when flying to Dubai

Aussies usually get a 30-day visa when they land. This means no paper forms, no pre-planning, just flash your passport and you're sorted.

How early to arrive at the airport

Give yourself a good three hours before take-off. Long-haul flights tend to move a little slower at check-in.

Frequently asked questions about flight

How do I book flight tickets to Dubai via Traveloka?
You can easily book your flight to Dubai with the search tool at the top of this page. Start by selecting your departure city and Dubai and choosing your travel dates. You'll then be presented with all the available flight options to Dubai, with the chance to filter by direct flights only, airline including baggage, departure times and even preferred stopover cities for connecting flights.
When is the best time to book a flight to Dubai?
If you're flying to Dubai from outside the country, then it's best to book three to six months in advance. For domestic flights, the earlier, the better, but six to eight weeks in advance on popular routes should do the trick. It's a good idea to keep an eye out for regular flight sales, like the EOFY, Black Friday and Boxing Day sales as this is when some of the best fares are available.
