Suvarnabhumi International Airport is Thailand's main gateway and one of Asia's busiest hubs. Compare airlines and set a Price Alert on Traveloka before you book.
Located around 30 km east of central Bangkok, BKK handled more than 62 million passengers in 2024, making it Thailand's busiest airport by a wide margin and one of the busiest in Asia. It's the primary hub for Thai Airways and a major gateway between Europe, Asia and Australia.
Domestically, Suvarnabhumi connects to destinations across Thailand, including Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Phuket, Krabi, Hat Yai, Surat Thani, Koh Samui, Udon Thani and Ubon Ratchathani. From Australia, direct flights connect Bangkok with Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney.
The main terminal handles both international and domestic flights. It's large but well signed in English, with immigration zones, dining, and duty-free shops - the gates can be a walk, so allow extra time via the moving walkways.
SAT-1 handles additional international flights and connects to the main terminal via a driverless train. It's newer and calmer, with more seating and a handful of lounges and restaurants.
Domestic flights run from a separate, smaller section of the main terminal, with a quicker, more local feel and stalls selling Thai snacks and souvenirs.
The Airport Rail Link reaches Makkasan or Phaya Thai stations in 25-40 minutes, connecting onward to the BTS Skytrain. Taxis and Grab rides wait outside Arrivals for a direct route into the city, and car hire desks, shuttles and public buses are available at the Transport Centre.
Don Mueang International Airport (DMK), about 45 km north of central Bangkok, handles many of Bangkok's low-cost carriers and is often used for regional flights around Asia, with taxi and shuttle links between the two airports.
