Great breakfast !

Breakfast via rooftop views were fantastic.... breakfast stellar....!

Staff was amazing! Very accommodating when we arrived early for checkin. Let us store luggage. Also there’s a beautiful rooftop! The room was clean and looked just like the photos. There wasn’t great air circulation in the shower but the water pressure was great.

We stayed in the triple bed room, which was very nice. There were only two of us (we booked late so it was the last available room) and we had plenty of space. The beds were each a different firmness which could be good for lucky sleepers. The bathroom was updated, the rooftop restaurant served excellent food. The staff at the entire hotel was very friendly. If I were to return to Guatemala, I would definitely stay at El Carmen again. Thank you!!

After traveling around Central American I ended up at The El Carmen Hotel! It was the BEST Hotel since I started my travels! The staff was very friendly and helpful! The bathroom was like a spa. Our breakfast was packed to go since we had an early morning shuttle. The location was also perfect!

I was given perhaps the worst room in a hotel that seemed empty. The WiFi was not working in the room and I shared my concerns several times to no avail. The shower drain was clogged and at not getting a response to my WiFi issues I felt the shower drain issue was a lost cause too, so I never said anything. I just unscrewed shower drain to prevent water from overflowing onto bedroom floor. I inquired about the Trek to Acatenango and not only was I provided incorrect information, the add the hotel advertises is misleading. I was never informed that after paying the hotel $400 Quetzales for the trek, the company supervising the tour would request an additional $100 Quetzales to enter Acatenango Volcano Park or that when I arrived at the summit of Acatenango I would need to pay an additional $200 Quetzales to get close to see the active Volcano Fuego erupt. I was also not informed that I would be sleeping in communal tents with other individuals. Very deceiving. Although it is centrally located and one of the most recognized hotels in Antigua, travelers are better off staying else where. In discussions with acquaintances that I made on this trip there are many other wonderful and reasonably priced hotels in Antigua offering exceptional service.

There was no pool and no spa. We were put in a room that had been painted that day and they tried to cover up the extremely strong smell with air fresheners. When we complained to the front desk, they just put an extra fan in the room. We had to keep the doors and windows open all day. Then in the middle if the night, the power went out and we had to sleep in toxic paint fumes with no ac or fans. We couldnt even leave the windows open during the night because they had no screens. We had to take a cold showers in the morning in the dark. It was a terrible experience.

Both rooms were clean and comfortable. The AC worked great, breakfast was good with quite a variety of meals to pick from, the property itself was well maintained. Had a facial done and it was wonderful. Hotel is walking distance to the market, Starbucks and so many other places!!! Rooftop resturant also had a beautiful view.

The room was close to all attractions. The view of the mountains was exceptional. Breakfast was excellent hotel is very clean convenient to transportation, shopping dining options five star rating.

The service was great at your hotel. Very clean rooms, very courteous staff and the breakfast was delicious.

The room was really clean and the hotel was very well mantained. I liked that they took really great care of the plants cleaning leaf by leaf. Breakfast was included and it was amazing, complemente by the 3 volcanos view at the rooftop it made a great start to the morning. It was a bit on the expensive side.

Beautiful hotel, very nice rooftop terrace and centrally located.

Clean, nice rooms, with good service. They brought us a non-alcoholic juice drink upon checking in, which was a nice touch.

The breakfast was delicioso

My partner and I stayed here for just one night and it definitely wasn’t enough! Staff were extremely kind and accommodating to us and were able to get us a massage booked last minute. It was amazing and super relaxing after our volcano hike the morning before we arrived at the hotel. We are already counting down to our next trip to Antigua and definitely plan to stay here!
