This hotel was very well and centrally located. The staff were very helpful. They thought of a lot of things in advance and had them ready at the front. It was very clean, efficient and spacious for a single room. Would definitely stay here when back in Edinburgh.

There was some confusion when we arrived as other guests had checked in with the same surname so looked like our room wasn’t available but we were directed to the bar to enjoy a free drink while the situation was resolved which didn’t take long and we were issued with an apology. As we arrived early evening we left our bags in the room and stayed at the hotel for a delicious pizza. The staff are very friendly and welcoming although the bar staff did get a little overwhelmed one evening with a busy bar of guests requesting cocktails! We gave up on the nightcap and went to our room. I would definitely stay at the Yotel again but noted just a few pros and cons during our stay; Pros; - Large clean room with decent sized TV - Big comfy bed with lovely white linen - Fridge (although not very cold) - Fabulous shower, great showerhead - Toiletries supplied, body wash, shampoo, conditioner, body lotion - Iron, hairdryer, safe - Plenty of lifts - Air conditioning/heating thermostat Cons; - Needs a sanitary bin in the toilet, a shelf would be handy too - Towels are hung in toilet so not great if you’re in the shower and someone else in the toilet - No tea making facilities. It is supplied free in the bar but not great if you want a cuppa first thing or if you need hot water for baby bottle

Our room was a bit odd. Immediately after opening the door there was a long corridor (5+ metres) before you got to the room proper. The only light switches (including for the bathroom) were just inside the door, meaning you had to track back and forth down this corridor every time you wanted to switch the light on or off in the bathroom. Worse still, the lights are on a timer linked to a motion sensor, but the motion sensor is just inside the door so every time it times out the room lights go off and you have to run down the corridor just to reactivate the motion sensor. Other than that strange design, the rooms were OK but fairly spartan. Lots of space, but no additional furniture beyond the bed and a single chair. For what we paid, it felt very poor value.

While the hotel is well located and within easy reach of the centre of Edinburgh, at over £200 B&B per night the expectations are understandably fairly high. To be fair, the room itself was spacious, comfortable and very good. Unfortunately the breakfast felt less “boutique Edinburgh experience” and more “service station Travelodge somewhere off the M4 at 6:30am.”

We had a premium king room. The room was about 3 feet bigger than the bed, no place to be other than in the bed. No in room coffee…I know but that’s how I function…but it was free downstairs. A digital heat/air system that had us baffled and cold. On the plus side it was in a quiet area, two blocks off Princess Street and 15 minutes walking from Dean Village.

Rooms are OK even if water is always slipping from the shower. Breakfast is not the best aspect of this hotel. Last time I found dirty towels and sheets. They also offer a voucher for who doesn’t request the room cleaning, which is a nice initiative. On the other hand they have many limitations of its usage making less useful. So after you fall in the trick you don’t do it or at least only for the environment.
