About Kintamani

Bali is not just about Denpasar or Kuta. There are many beautiful destinations that you can visit here. One of which is Kintamani, a village in the north of East Bali. This village will be an excellent place to enjoy the other side of Bali through the highland scene. Aside from Mount Batur and Lake Batur, Kintamani also boasts several traditional villages that are still well preserved. It takes about 2 hours’ drive to get Kintamani from Ngurah Rai International Airport. Meanwhile, if you access this village from any popular tourist destination in South Bali, it will take approximately 2 hours by car. Because it is in the highlands, Kintamani's weather tends to be cool. Its temperature is normally about 15 degrees Celsius cooler than the area on the coast and more so at night.

Pura Ulun Danu Batur

No trip to Kintamani would be complete without a visit to Pura Ulun Danu Batur. It is the second-largest temple in Bali after Pura Besakih. Furthermore, this temple is dedicated to the goddess of water, lakes, and rivers, Ida Batari Dewi Ulun Danu. However, please note that Pura Ulun Danu Batur is not a single temple, but a worship complex consisting of five temples (Pura Penataran Agung, Pura Dalem Purwa, Pura Taman Beji, Pura Lingga Petak, and Pura Prajapati) and one Buddhist stupa. This temple is located 900 meters above sea level and locally known as Pura Batur. It is famed for its impressive architecture and has a landscape that will pamper your eyes. The beauty of this temple is complemented by the majestic backdrop of Mount Batur and Lake Batur.


Danau Batur

Located on the southeast of Mount Batur, Lake Batur has the deepest point of about 88 meters. As the biggest lake in Bali, Lake Batur also has a shape that resembles a crescent moon. The atmosphere around this lake is so cool and shady by the green trees, as well as offers a close view of Mount Batur. Because its currents are calm, this lake is perfect for canoeing and fishing.


Mount Batur

If you truly enjoy hiking, Mount Batur is a great place to do your hobby. Mostly, tourists who take this trip chasing the moment of sunrise. That's why most of them are climbing in the early morning. The average time to reach the top of the mountain is around 2.5 hours. Although this trip seems easy because of its short travel time, the track is quite challenging for beginners. Desa Adat Bayung Gede

According to historical records, this traditional village is the mother of other ancient villages in the Bangli District. You can see and feel the culture of ancestors who still cling strongly through their earthquake-resistant houses. These houses still use wood as its poles and bamboo shingles on the roofs. Also, the livelihoods as farmers are still highly respected here. Like much of ancient traditional villages, the pathways of Desa Adat Bayung Gede are still natural without asphalt or paving.


Desa Adat Penglipuran

Another Kintamani's traditional village is worth a visit is Desa Adat Penglipuran. This area is quite popular among tourists, both domestic and foreign tourists. Uniquely, this village does not allow the presence of motorised vehicles on its main road. So, you can imagine how serene the environment in Desa Adat Penglipuran is.
