Banyuwangi is located at the easternmost tip of Java, and is best known for its ferry connection to Bali. However, Banyuwangi is becoming better known as a destination in its own right.
It is the gateway to Ijen Plateau's stunning volcanic vista, the main access point for the Baluran National Park and the surfing village of Grajagan, and also safeguards one of the island's ancient forests, Alas Purwo.
