Atakemaru: The scarlet Japanese-style balloon "Gozasen Atakemaru" (500 passenger capacity) stands out in Kobe Port and is modeled after the giant ship "Atakemaru" built by order of the third shogun of the Edo shogunate, Iemitsu. It was renovated in 2017 under the supervision of Okayama-born industrial designer Eiji Mitooka. The all-reserved seating on board is decorated with colorful sliding doors, Japanese umbrellas, and ceiling paintings, creating a gorgeous, elegant space that combines styles from all over the world, past and present, like a mandala.
