More about Tokyo Skytree Observation Deck

Tokyo Skytree Observation Deck

An Overview: Tokyo Skytree Observation Deck

Tokyo Skytree is the tallest tower in Japan, standing at an impressive height of 634 meters. This tower was completed in February 2012 and has become one of the most famous landmarks in Tokyo. The Skytree isn't just a broadcasting tower, it also gives visitors breathtaking views of the city. From here, you can see Tokyo’s skyline and even, on clear days, catch a glimpse of Mount Fuji in the distance.

There are two main observation decks where you can enjoy these views. The first one, called the Tembo Deck, is located 350 meters above the ground. It has large glass windows all around and a special section with a transparent floor, making it feel like you are walking in the sky. If you want to go even higher, there’s the Tembo Galleria at 450 meters, which includes a beautiful, spiraling ramp that leads you to Sorakara Point. Sorakara Point is the highest place you can go in the tower, and it's perfect for panoramic views of the city from a great height.

Location and Operating Hours of Tokyo Skytree Observation Deck

The Tokyo Skytree is located in the Sumida district of Tokyo, at the following address: 1 Chome-1 Oshiage, Sumida City, Tokyo 131-0045, Japan. It's easy to reach and is directly connected to several transportation options.

The observation decks are open every day, from 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM, and the last entry is usually about 30 minutes before closing time.

How to Get to Tokyo Skytree Observation Deck

Getting to Tokyo Skytree is quite simple since it’s connected to major transportation lines. Here are a few options to reach the tower:

By Train:

You can take the Tobu Skytree Line or the Tokyo Metro Hanzomon Line and get off directly at Tokyo Skytree Station. This station is connected to the tower, so you can just walk from the train to the tower. Another option is to take the Toei Asakusa Line and stop at Oshiage Station. From Oshiage, it’s just a short walk to Tokyo Skytree.

By Bus:

Many local buses stop near the Tokyo Skytree, with the nearest bus stop being Tokyo Skytree Eki-mae.

By Taxi:

If you're coming from another part of Tokyo and prefer a taxi, you can easily find one to take you directly to the Skytree entrance.

 By Foot:

If you're staying in a nearby area like Asakusa, it's also possible to walk to the Skytree. It’s about a 20-minute walk from Asakusa Station.

Additional Information

There are a few things to keep in mind when visiting Tokyo Skytree.

  • Although there’s no official time limit for how long you can stay on the observation decks, if it gets crowded, the staff may have to limit your visit to ensure everyone has a chance to enjoy the views.
  • For those with mobility concerns, wheelchair rentals are available, but it’s a good idea to check availability ahead of time since they may run out.
  • Drones are strictly prohibited in the tower, so you cannot bring them inside.
  • If you have a fear of heights or any health issues that might be affected by high altitudes, it’s best to check with your doctor before your visit.
  • Since the view from the top depends a lot on the weather, it’s recommended to check the weather forecast before planning your trip to ensure clear skies.
