Even though Chiang Rai is often called the sleepy town from its slow-life vibes, the northernmost province of Thailand has yet a wealth to offer. This one-day tour set off in the morning at Mae Kachan Hot Spring, the country's highest's geyser. After soothing yourself and soaking in 90°C therapeutic natural hot water, the tour continues to its highlight which is Wat Rong Khun aka the White Temple, an ornate Buddhist temple designed, built and owned by world-renowned Thai national artist Chalermchai Kositpipat.
The afternoon starts with a visit to the Golden Triangle where the borders of Thailand, Myanmar and Laos intersect; then carry on to Wat Pra That Pukhao, the 14th-century hillside temple. Conclude the tour with a boat ride across the river to Laos local market (optional) and return home with a better perspective of Chiang Rai.
