Since that moment, DAMRI had undergone many transformations. DAMRI was once the State Company General Management Agency (BPUPN) in 1961. When BPUPN was abolished in 1965, DAMRI was transformed into a Government Company (PN). In a further development, DAMRI became a Public Company (Perum) in 1984. The status was later completed with the government regulation PP No. 31 Year 2002.

Until today, this government-plated transportation company has been able to survive the fierce competition of land transportation companies. Headquartered on Jl.
