The best time to visit Niigata City is during the fall, from September to November, when the weather is comfortably cool with daily highs ranging from 12.1°C to 28.7°C. This period offers a pleasant escape from the humidity of summer, making outdoor activities enjoyable. The fall season sees moderate rainfall, and with tourism being the slowest, accommodations are likely to be more affordably priced.

Spring (March to May) is also a favorable time, but it is busier with tourists. Summer (June to August) can be comfortable, but it's the slow season. Winter (December to February) is the least advisable time due to cold temperatures and frequent precipitation, making it less enjoyable for warm weather travelers.

Traveling from Tokyo to Niigata is a brief journey on the Shinkansen, with a direct ride lasting just two hours.
