When visiting Kuala Lumpur, a day trip to the Batu Caves in Selangor should not be missed. Its most breathtaking site is the enormous Temple Cave or Cathedral Cave that can only be reached through a towering staircase with 272 steps. Inside, lies a century-old temple dedicated to Murugan, the Hindu god of war. Every January or February, hundreds of thousands of Hindu pilgrims gather at the caves to celebrate the Thaipusam festival.
