Have you been missing the movies? We understand. The experience of catching the latest releases on a huge screen and surround sound is simply not replaceable with watching movies at home. Well, here's some good news for those currently residing in Java and Bali: starting from mid-September, cinemas on both islands will be reopening!
This reopening will of course be followed by the implementation of the appropriate safety measures to prevent COVID-19 transmission. If everyone follows these guidelines, cinemas in other provinces might follow suit in reopening their doors to the public. What are these requirements? We've got you covered. In this article, you’ll find all you need to know about going to the movies in the middle of a pandemic.
In accordance with Instruksi Mendagri No. 12 Tahun 2022 concerning PPKM in Java and Bali which is valid from 22 to 28 February 2022, cinemas in areas with PPKM levels 3, 2, and 1 are allowed to operate with the following conditions:
Areas that fall into the PPKM level 4 category include Cirebon City, Tegal City, Magelang City, and Madiun City. Jabodetabek, Bandung City, Semarang City, Province, Surabaya, and Denpasar currently have PPKM level 3 status. Meanwhile, areas with PPKM level 2 include Ciamis, Garut, Cianjur, and Cilacap regencies.
Following instructions from the Ministry of Home Affairs (Instruksi Mendagri), those who wish to visit cinemas are required to scan the QR code at the entrance using the PeduliLindungi app. In doing so, cinemas are able to keep track of your health status and regulate the density of visitors. QR code scanning is also important for contact tracing purposes. In order to scan your QR code, ensure that you have an account on PeduliLindungi, then follow these steps:
Before you arrive at the cinema, it’s also a good idea to book your tickets first through the Traveloka App to minimize contact and ensure you get a seat. Movie tickets are available for purchase on the Traveloka App starting from 1 October 2021 for Android users. This service will also soon be available on iOS, so if you are an iOS user, make sure to check your app regularly for updates!
There you have it, the tips on going to the cinemas safely during PPKM. Keep in mind that some cinemas may have a few extra requirements, so whichever movie you’re watching, don’t forget to always follow health protocols at the location!
