Stayed at the Horison Balairung Hotel Jakarta to take my parents to the hospital. What was most impressive was the friendliness of all the hotel staff. They went out of their way to provide the best service and help guests. Wheelchairs were available for guests who needed them, and the security guards were very helpful in helping us push the wheelchair to our room and to the Heart Hospital next door. Thank you for your hospitality.
The room was quite spacious and airy with a large window offering a city view. There was a wardrobe and refrigerator. Drinking water was available from a dispenser in the hallway, so guests could get it themselves whenever they needed it. Some rooms were not fully renovated, with broken tables, untidy ceilings, or peeling wallpaper. Hopefully, this can be fixed in the future.

Best hotel in Central Jakarta for the price. I booked a superior room, but since the non-smoking rooms were sold out, the hotel upgraded me to a Deluxe for free. Thank you, Balairung โค๏ธ

Pros:
The location is strategic and easy to reach. The lobby is quite spacious, and the service is excellent. Amenities are complete, and the hot water is good. Breakfast has a wide selection. That night, I ordered fried rice to be brought to my room, and it tasted good, 8/10.
Cons:
Perhaps because the hotel is older, the room feels neglected. Some areas are dusty. The bedsheets aren't spotlessly white, with many stains. The bathroom toilet is yellow. It probably needs to be replaced.

When this hotel first opened, room service included bottled water and an iron. Now, since it's been operated by Horison, rooms are now equipped with dispensers in the hallways.
I also stayed here before and asked the receptionist to replace the carpet in the hallways on each floor, especially since there was a hole in the middle.
When I was in my room (my most recent stay was room 604), the AC took a long time to cool down, taking over half an hour.
Perhaps the General Manager should check the condition of each room individually and then take action to improve the hospitality experience.
My suggestion is to create Instagrammable Minangkabau-themed photo spots in the lobby or in some open spaces that guests can share on social media. This will give this hotel a unique and truly ethnic feel, embracing the Padang spirit, a staple of West Sumatra tourism.
If I may suggest another, make the entrance more open and spacious. As soon as you enter, the hotel is incredibly cramped. I think it's up to the exterior design experts to create a welcome area that instantly makes people fall in love.
Beyond that, this is a great hotel in a great location if it's well-maintained. Hopefully, the Horison team, with their extensive experience in many hotels, can make Balairung one of the best in the Horison group.
Moreover, I heard that Horison will be in Payakumbuh with the Rajawali group; surely a "marriage" will be a path to progress.
