Ever thinking to stay your weekend holiday in a full old-styled artistic & luxurious colonial hotel details hospitality in the heart of city ? If you do, this Hotel Besar is the only right place when you arrive Purwokerto.
We had 3-days weekend holiday staying here on late of April 2018 (Friday evening until Sunday morning) and it was awesome. We found clean & fresh environment with a beauty garden in center of building.
Hot shower water worked well as room air-conditioned and flat tivi served good. Wifi coverage connection was a bit terrible as our room in the back of center garden nearby was difficult to access.
Breakfast menus are advised to be more varied & served a bit quick.

It's nice to stay here. The concept of the look of a vintage hotel, so when staying here feels the classic impression. What's more for antique enthusiasts is right here. For all employees friendly and polite. Plus the rooms are very clean and comfortable. What's more a restaurant near the hotel in addition to a diverse menu, it also feels able to spoil the tongue.

The hotel's rooms and service are good, and the rooms are even nicer than in the photos. Unfortunately, the service in the restaurant is poor. I don't know if booking a room affects the service at breakfast, or if those who pay and order additional breakfast receive different service.
We waited almost an hour, and we were even passed several times just for drinks. If that's the case, I highly recommend not taking the additional breakfast option when booking a standard room. If you have a busy schedule, it's a huge waste of time.
I hope there are improvements and upgrades, as this hotel is very comfortable, with a family-friendly feel.

The service was very bad, my car tire was flat, the air was completely gone, I thought it was a leak, but after checking the tire patch, it wasn't leaking at all, when I asked for CCTV footage, the hotel refused to provide information even though there was CCTV in the parking lot right above my car, the reason was that the hotel management didn't know where it was, it was very disappointing and not recommended.

The hotel is extremely strategic on the main road. The ambience is traditional with antique furniture. The bedroom is quite spacey. The aircon runs well. The hotel needs to improve the cleanliness since there are dirty spots on the blanket. My biggest concern is the bathroom. It doesn’t have warm water.

A few drawbacks in room 19:
- The shower head isn't very strong.
- There's no hook in the bathroom to hang it on.

the hotel consisted of 3 main buildings, the main compound, opal rooms and 1 building at the back.
I booked the deluxe room, located at the main compound. the building itself has a thick Dutch influence. They have refurbished the room well, while maintaining most of the original design.
changed the wood panel door and windows, but the rest is still original. The room is super spacious even for 3 people. the only minor drawback was the manual water heater that was hard to maintain the temperature that I want.
The next day, I upgraded to Opal rooms (building on the side) because it looked so neat, newly built and had the Mediterranean look. the room is not as spacious as the deluxe room, but the bathroom and amenities were definitely an upgrade, the interior too.
The towel is a bit thin but hey, for the price, everything else was top notch, not to mention the helpful hotel personnel.
Me and my family slept well in both rooms and satisfied with them.
The location was superb, walking distance to legendary bread kiosk, both ATM and a cafe within the hotel complex (their food was good!).
Nestled on the side of a main road but the noise level was minimal and you could walk or order ride share easily. Very recommended.

Overall, it's actually okay, but I'm the type who has to be really careful about cleanliness, so dust and some details will be visible to me, so I need to be more thorough in cleaning the room, sheets and bathroom ✌️ Oh yeah, there needs to be a Qibla direction marker in the room.

A few drawbacks in room 19:
- The shower head isn't very strong.
- There's no hook in the bathroom to hang it on.
- The sink faucet is too close, so the water spray isn't centered.

the hotel consisted of 3 main buildings, the main compound, opal rooms and 1 building at the back.
I booked the deluxe room, located at the main compound. the building itself has a thick Dutch influence. They have refurbished the room well, while maintaining most of the original design.
changed the wood panel door and windows, but the rest is still original. The room is super spacious even for 3 people. the only minor drawback was the manual water heater that was hard to maintain the temperature that I want.
The next day, I upgraded to Opal rooms (building on the side) because it looked so neat, newly built and had the Mediterranean look. the room is not as spacious as the deluxe room, but the bathroom and amenities were definitely an upgrade, the interior too.
The towel is a bit thin but hey, for the price, everything else was top notch, not to mention the helpful hotel personnel.
Me and my family slept well in both rooms and satisfied with them.
The location was superb, walking distance to legendary bread kiosk, both ATM and a cafe within the hotel complex (their food was good!).
Nestled on the side of a main road but the noise level was minimal and you could walk or order ride share easily. Very recommended.

Overall, it's actually okay, but I'm the type who has to be really careful about cleanliness, so dust and some details will be visible to me, so I need to be more thorough in cleaning the room, sheets and bathroom ✌️ Oh yeah, there needs to be a Qibla direction marker in the room.
