The Pelican Poshtel

At the time of check in we had no way of verifying we had a room and the number they had for customer service was non responsive . We were left outside of the hotel with no help from anyone to get into the hotel . Once I was able to get a hold of someone which wasn’t until 2 hrs after my check in time . It was to my pleasant suprise that the door to my hotel had no lock ….. anyone could have came in whenever they please. I contacted the property via text message and they were un responsive . For anyone looking to book this hotel think twice !!!! High disappointed

Everything was great! The few things I have feedback on is the lack of storage, hooks or towel racks. I noticed water damage in the communal area. I think that if the rooms were nicely updated to match the vibe of the rest of the hotel, it would be five stars. That said, I would stay here again!

Our stay at the pelican Poshtel was good. Our first night was miserable. Our room was very small and the air conditioning didn’t work. But once I went the staff a message they offered another room which was way better then our room. It was way better and the air was working wonderful LOL. Overall our stay was good great location for places to walk to good parking in front of the building area was so quite. I would stay again as long as I don’t get that small room again.

Very convenient and comfortable! The walk to the beach was short. Pelican was exactly what we were looking for!

Was a tiny room. No microwave. The bathroom light kept turning on and off the entire time. I had to walk up several stairs with a sprained ankle. I tried cancelling my reservation a day or two in advance due to my injury but was denied a refund so I had to stay there or I would have lost my full payment. The lock to the room did not work on the inside so I did not feel safe. Thankfully I didn’t have any issues. If you just need a bed to sleep in then fine but if you expect anything else you will not be satisfied.

If I could give this place a zero I would, please don’t stay at this hotel, the rooms are nothing like Expedia shows them, it’s dirty and they have bed bugs. They also have roaches and terrible service, my friend and I stayed here and we called the number they gave us more than 4 times just to try to check in, we asked them to come clean our room, and bring us towels but they took forever, they tried kicking us out one day before our check out. When they called us to figure out the situation about checking out, they gave me one price, but they kept changing the price. I asked them what is the total with everything included more than once and once I was ready to pay they gave us a new total of $119 for another night total scam. The water pressure sucks and the toilet doesn’t flush sometimes and they don’t have proper management, the person who is in charge of reservations and the needs of guests takes forever to respond. I don’t usually write reviews but this place is a joke and a total scam, save your money and go elsewhere in Puerto Rico.

FULL of ants, both alive and dead. Bathroom was brimming with them— it was actually shocking to see. Also, so many strands of hair on the sheets — balls of hair, strands of hair, short/thick hair, long hair. Disgusting.

Definitely not as advertised

Bathroom and parts of the room had black mold , no ventilation, walls and ceiling had dirt/stains. Mattress also had mold.

Not as advertised. Pictures look much nicer. This is run down and even when “cleaned” it’s dirty. There were stains on everything and hair everywhere. The virtual front desk can’t help with anything when I arrived past midnight after a day of traveling with kids. The code to the door didn’t work and after telling them 3 times and them assuring me they gave the right code, they finally had me try a different one that finally worked. The ONLY reason we still stayed the night is that there was literally nothing else available at 1am. We got out of the there as fast as possible in the morning.

Easy check in. Property clean. Room a little tight but very nice. Large bathroom

Summary: unresponsive staff, unsecure facility/rooms, no amenities, prison cell like room aesthetic. Only recommend booking if you are out of options or traveling alone. Straight up white cement walls, a bed, and a fridge. No proper windows, no furniture, no decor. Everybody can hear everything in neighboring rooms. Killed many roaches which is strange because there’s no furniture for them to hide. You are given a sheet as your blanket. Bathroom has no vents so smell and humidity will linger in room. Old, unmatching towels are given by hotel. The toiletries in the room smell hospital grade. Hot water has to be manually turned on. When I contacted management to change rooms or cancel second night, they were not responsive but were able to respond when I asked for a hairdryer. The location is good. Right next to Calle Loiza so you have everything nearby from restaurants and the beach, also very near the hotel. The rest of the property is nice. Everything else was horrible experience.

I am going to start by saying that it really looks like the owners are trying to make a nice little boutique hotel. So the 2 star rating is for the effort, not the execution. Safety is the biggest concern. In the daytime it looks like a nice enough neighborhood but when you travel with family you want to know you are locked in safe and sound. Unfortunately, this was not the case. The front gate looks sturdy and has a passcode. The problem is that you can reach through the bars and open the gate from the inside. Then there is a second passcode for the room. This problem is that they do not change the codes per visit. There is no one on site and they text you the codes. We stayed one night each a week apart. I got the texts confused and we accidentally coded into the wrong room. So, the codes are not changed. Anyone that has had the code can get into your room at anytime. When we got to the correct room there were no screens and you could reach through the metal hurricane slats to open the door from the inside without a code. The room was mostly clean but could have used a once over and there was a mustiness that was present in the bedrooms. The bathrooms were nice and clean with excellent water pressure and temperature Overall, however, I do not believe our family would stay here again.

Walking distance from restaurant, grocery, beach. Perfect location for uber availability. Local vibes Nice size fridge in rooms.
