Series of Changes
Kahuripan Train has operated since 26 July of 1995. At the beginning of the service, the train served Kediri-Bandung-Jakarta routes through Pasar Senen Station. During the operation, several changes were made. In the mid of 1995, Kahuripan Train excluded Pasar Senen Station but kept Kediri-Bandung route.
The next change was made when Kahuripan Train started to serve Kediri-Padalarang route. Not long after that, Kediri-Kiarancondong was added as the train's new route. Accordant to the new railway schedule (Gapeka) since March 2017, Kahuripan Train's latest route became longer—from Kiarancondong Station to Blitar Station and vice versa.
In 2013, the fare was 100.000 IDR but reduced to 90.000 IDR after a few months. Starting April 2016, the ticket fare was cut off from 90.000 IDR to 86.000 IDR due to the implementation of PSO (Public Service Obligation). The current ticket fare is even cheaper—84.000 IDR per person.
The Train Series
Kahuripan Train uses two types of locomotive: CC201 and CC203. For the latest model, the train chain consists of one Locomotive CC201/CC203, six cars for AC Economy Class, one restaurant, generator, luggage storage, and one empty car—used to prevent accident. With this arrangement, Kahuripan Train can carry up to 800 - 1000 passengers every day.
