Information About Cilegon Station

Cilegon Station is a class II train station located in Jombang Wetan, Jombang District, Cilegon Regency, Banten. This station only serves one passenger transport, namely the Merak Commuter Line Train. This train connects the Merak-Rangkasbitung and Rangkasbitung-Merak routes. Cilegon Station is located in Operation Area I Jakarta.

Cilegon City is a city in the western part of Banten Province. In this city, there is Merak Harbor, which is a ferry port from Java to Sumatra Island. There are hundreds of ferry trips that transport passengers to and from Sumatra Island via Bakauheni Harbor, Lampung.

There are several stations in Cilegon. Some of these stations are no longer active. Currently, the stations that serve passengers on and off are Cilegon Station, Krenceng Station, and Merak Station. Cilegon Station is the station that was passed first. Meanwhile, Merak Station is the station closest to Merak Harbor.

Apart from KAI Commuter Line transportation, Cilegon also has transportation facilities, namely the BRT Trans Cilegon Bus. Besides that, there are available DAMRI services on the Merak Port-Soekarno Hatta International Airport route. For transportation within the city, there is public transportation that serves passengers on various routes.

Cilegon Station has 5 lines and only 1 line which is a straight line, namely line 2. There are two platforms at this station. One is the side platform and the other is the island platform. Both are types of low platforms. The platform area is also equipped with a canopy so that passengers are safe from the hot sun and rainwater while waiting for the train.

There are also facilities at the station including toilets, prayer rooms, and comfortable waiting rooms. This station is also very close to the Nurul Ikhlas Cilegon Mosque. 

In front of Cilegon Station, many food stalls offer various food menus. Passengers can eat here before leaving or when they arrive at Cilegon Station.

Cilegon Station is a small station. To know more about this station, you need to know the following facts:

1. Construction was Canceled

In the past, the Staatsspoorwegen (SS) company built a railway line from Batavia to Banten to meet passenger mobility needs. In the 1890s, the company began planning a railway line from Duri to Serang via Tangerang and Cikande. 

While the construction process was underway, the plan was canceled. The route that has already been built only reaches Tangerang. This line is still used by trains on the Tangerang - Duri route. Construction of the line to Serang only continued on July 1 1900 and continued to Anyer Kidul Port.

2. Transport of Merak Residents to Rangkasbitung

The Merak Commuter Line which passes through Cilegon Station is a commuter train service with the Rangkasbitung - Merak route. The time required from the departure point to the destination point is approximately 2 hours. 

From Merak Station, this commuter line passes Krenceng Station before arriving at Cilegon Station. Cilegon Station is an important station, especially during holidays such as holidays and the end of the year. The Rangkasbitung - Merak route carries passengers who want to go home to Sumatra Island via Merak Harbor.
