Daru Station (DAR) is a class III/small train station in Daru, Jambe, Tangerang. Located at an altitude of +51 meters, this station is included in the Jakarta 1 operation area and serves exclusively the Commuter Line route. Only one Commuter Line service stops at Daru Station, which is the Tanah Abang–Tigaraksa–Rangkasbitung route.
In the beginning, this station only had one train line and had the status of a bus stop. However, since the double track and extension of the commuter line network were completed in May 2012, Daru Station has undergone a total transformation. The building was replaced, and two side platforms were added, as well as line 2 as a new straight line to Rangkasbitung and line 3 as the Badug line. Starting April 17, 2013, this station serves AC Commuter Line to Tanah Abang Station.
Based on the regulation contained in the Decree of the Minister of Transportation Number 354 of 2020, the fare for Electric Rail Trains (KRL) is set at 3,000 IDR for the first distance of up to 25 kilometers, and 1,000 IDR for the next 10 kilometers. If the travel distance from the starting station to the destination station is less than 25 kilometers, passengers can pay 3,000 IDR without needing to add additional fees.
If you choose the travel route from Rangkasbitung to Tanah Abang, before reaching Daru Station, you will pass Tenjo Station, and after that, there is Cilejit Station. On the other hand, if you choose the Tanah Abang - Rangkasbitung route, before reaching Daru Station, you will pass Cilejit Station, and after that, there is Tenjo Station.
Daru Station, which is located in the middle of Daru Village, has a deep meaning in its name. In Hindi, “Daru” means shooting star, while in Arabic, it is interpreted as home. This combination of meanings creates an impression of beauty and convenience, becoming an affordable solution for workers trying to reach the capital Jakarta with limited income.
Daru Station has a long history during the Dutch colonial period. The surrounding area was once a plantation inhabited by Dutch citizens, marked by Dutch graves that still exist. Daru village used to have plantations with coconut and lemongrass plants for lemongrass oil. Originally known as Pos Daru, this station witnessed the evolution of Indonesian railways from lorries connecting plantations to Daru Station as we know it today.
Daru Station currently remains under the responsibility of Cilejit Head Station. This creates challenges, especially in terms of financial reporting and passenger numbers. Even though it serves the Rangkasbitung - Angke local train, the reports to the Indonesian Train Company are still in the name of Cilejit Station. In the past, passengers reached 1200 to 1300 people per day, but over time, the switching to the commuter line of Maja-Tanah Abang line and fare adjustments in April 2015 caused the number of passengers to decrease to 600 per day. However, Daru Station remains a historic part of Indonesian railways.
