Palmerah Station is the biggest class station type C which is located in East Palmerah Street, Gelora, Tanah Abang, Central Jakarta. The name owned by this station doesn’t match with its location, because it’s not in a sub-district Palmerah, but rather in sub-district Tanah Abang.

Its strategic location is even just 3 km west of Tanah Abang, which means this station is always busy with passengers. However currently, Palmerah Station only serves trips using KRL Commuter Line.

There are two high-side platforms with two lanes, the first lane goes to Serpong to Rangkasbitung, and the second lane goes to Tanah Abang. The facilities at Palmerah Station are also very complete, including lifts, escalators, minimarkets, and JPOs which are integrated with Transjakarta bus stops.

This KRL Commuter Line is a service operated to connect before the station, it's Tanah Abang with Kebayoran.  Access to another place from Palmerah Station is also very easy because there are many public transport options.

There are Transjakarta Bus which connects Palmerah Station to other destinations, including Tosari and Bundaran Senayan. If want more easy, you can also use other transportation like taxis or online motorbike transport.

1. Becoming a Role Model Jakarta Modern Station

The station has just finished renovation and is equipped with various facilities including a lift and JPOs. The design which luxurious with a semi-circle canopy, and this station can accommodate up to 14.000 each day.

2. Start from the Steam Tram Station

The traffic conditions from downtown Batavia to Palmerah very busy since the 19th century for various purposes. One of the causes that made this area quite busy is the activity of Chinese businessmen who contain several trade commodities.

To serve transportation needs in Batavia - Kebayoran lanes, Hindia Belanda governance started to build and operate steam trem. That tram was not only used to carry people but also for trade commodities.

3. Used as A Cultural Asset

The old building of Palmerah Station is now replaced with a new building and converted into a minimarket. The old design building has a similar model to Kebayoran Station and Sudirman with the engraving name “Palmerah” Station on the wall.

The roof tiles of buildings that previously used ceramic tiles now have been changed to metal tiles. However, this building, which has not been used for entry and exit for passengers since 2015, has a long history.

To reach the Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) complex from Palmerah Station, first option is to take the Transjakarta Bus Corridor 1B. Exit Palmerah Station and head to the nearby Transjakarta Palmerah Bus Stop. The 1B Corridor is a regular non-BRT bus route that operates between Palmerah Station and the Dukuh Atas Transport Hub. Disembark at the Senayan Bus Stop, and you can cross the street to enter the GBK complex.

2. How to Get to Senen Station from Palmerah Station 

To travel from Palmerah Station to Senen Station, take the KRL Commuter Line heading to Tanah Abang and alight at Tanah Abang Station. From there, transfer to a KRL Commuter Line train heading to Jakarta Kota or Bogor, which will stop at Senen Station. This journey typically takes around 20-30 minutes, depending on train conditions. Alternatively, you can use Transjakarta by taking a bus from Palmerah Bus Stop to Tanah Abang Bus Stop. Then, transfer to a Transjakarta Bus Corridor 5 (Kampung Melayu – Ancol) and alight at Senen Bus Stop, which is directly connected to Senen Station.

3. How to Get to Soekarno-Hatta Airport from Palmerah Station 

To get to Soekarno-Hatta International Airport from Palmerah Station, several public transportation options are available. First, take the KRL Commuter Line from Palmerah Station to Tanah Abang Station, and alight at Sudirman Station. Then, exit toward BNI City Station and continue your journey by taking the Airport Rail Link directly to Soekarno-Hatta Airport.
